This was brought up recently on the forums - people sharing photos, and the possibility of said photos being taken up by unscrupulous peoples. It happens, maybe more or maybe less often than people think.

Anyway, on a moms forum I frequent, there is a private photo forum one can apply to join after they have been a member for a minimum of 2 months, and have made 50 posts. They then can share family photos or photos of their children, in an environment that only they can see as members of the group. Its a little bit of security and heavily used.

I think this would be an excellent way to implement photo people want to post of themselves, family, ect. I realize we have albums, but its time consuming going through each photo album and whatnot, and you wouldnt really know there is a photo someone wants you to see unless you see them all, or that person makes a thread - and then, the albums are public, are they not?

Anyways, i thought i would make this suggestion.
Thanks for this!

Grooming a family can take years, do you really think 2 months and 50 post will stop someone who wants to view ?

No. I don't.

I do think, however, it is one extra step of privacy. And that can never hurt.

The reason for the 2/50(which is alot of posts on the LLL forums given the nature, its not like here) is that the person has shown themselves to not be an outright troll.

Noone is forced to share - those who want to can, and those who dont, dont. I know I have often wished I could share my photos here but just wasn't comfortable with them being in a non-private forum.

I think it's a good idea Bowzz..I've shared photos on the board before but later felt that it wasn't a good idea because anyone can view them, including any guests that happen to wander by the forum.

Maybe people don't realize this since once you become a member, you may never log off of the website, but indeed, guests and unregistered users cannot access member profile information or photographs uploaded to either photo area on the site.

In other words, even to view a photo posted to your profile or the gallery here, you have to be a member. While becoming a member is trivial, it is a small step that enhances member privacy a bit and keeps casual visitors from looking in.

We don't have the capability at this point to offer anything more, but will keep it as a future suggestion when we might have such capability...

Thanks,
DocJohn

Great idea Rainbowzz.
I suggested something similar before but as a social group thing.
I agree it takes effort to go through everyone's profile pics and I don't think you would upload them there if you didn't want anyone to see them.
It would be nice to have them all in one area though.

Thanks Doc - indeed, I wasn't aware that only members could view. That makes a definite difference.

Like Tishie said, its not going to stop someone completely from getting in if they want to, but Its one step you can make to protect yourself.
