Does that happen with other pictures too? If not, there may be a problem with the particular picture you're trying to upload/display.

If you paste the URL for that picture directly into the location bar of your browser, does your browser display it normally?

Yes, it's happening to me. I think it stopped working after the site went down for a few hours. I was just about to make a thread about it myself but then I saw you already made one.
I regret deleting my old picture now =(

There are two limits -- the dimensions of the photo (like 800 x 600) and the size of the file you're trying to upload. Digital cameras nowadays, for instance, take images that are way too huge for the forums (some can be 12 MB per image, and even small photos can be 1 MB or larger). You have to be within both of these image guidelines in order to upload a photo.

It wasn't a picture from a camera, just one from my computer. It was just a test to see if it was working rather than actually using it.

As for the profile pic, I checked the size and it's within the boundaries. It used to work with every picture (either from the web or from my computer)) i tried to date to put on until a few days ago and now no picture at all works. (I've attempted about 12) Not even a tiny one works. It keeps saying 'Invalid File' when it never used to. I don;t understand why it should be invalid though because I have carried out the exact same process I did before.

I wanted to upload a picture to the Forum "General Social Chat, thread PICTURES...are you visual?" I'm trying to upload from my computer.

I clicked on the picture icon and it prompted me to enter an http:// address, which i don't have for my computer. Copy/paste doesn't work either.

Also, to get a picture added to a post or a PM, i have to have the url for the picture before it will appear in the finished post/PM, and can only past this from an avatar site that furnishes this for forums specifically. So again, i can't upload or copy/paste pictures from my computer.

just dense i guess...pls help! ty.

Try uploading your pictures first to the gallery here on site, and linking to that address. If that works, then you know your picture is acceptable in size, at least.

There was always confusion about uploading pictures from within the profile...which option to use when.

OR try this:

RIGHT CLICK on the picture you like
The drop down will have many choices such as :
Copy link location
Copy image
Copy image location

Select "Copy image location"
Then, in the post area, click on the yellow box with the moon and mountains in it on the task line/bar above the window.

Hit Ctl V to paste what you just copied (image location)
Hit Enter
That should put most pictures into a post.

If that doesn't work, you may need to copy image into your own computer's gallery first. Then link to that.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
