it started sometime yesterday... on windows in both explorer and firefox. The drop down appears but isn't in a long row as before, and when i try to manouver over it it disappears again. I can't select items in the drop downs without a great deal of difficulty and in some cases i can't access them at all.

it seems the style code may have changed - deliberately or by accident... and it is affecting how the drops display - and that is making them difficult to point to

it's happening on all pages

We did change them -- on purpose -- to help people who were having a problem with the lists being too long. I can't replicate the problem you describe on our test systems here, so can you give me a little more information about the versions of the web browsers you're using (Help menu, then choose "About..."). And also what version of Windows (XP, Vista, Windows 7, something else?). Thanks.

It's working fine for me (Windows 98SE, Firefox 2).

This is a familiar quirk of dropdowns. It used to frustrate me in Firefox Bookmarks but I got used to it years ago.

If I click on "Chat," for instance, and try to move my mouse pointer sideways to the second column, I end up mousing over the "Photos" button before I get there. The Chat dropdown does close and I get the Photos dropdown instead. If I mouse straight down and then sideways, I seem to get to any part of the dropdown successfully.

I'm having the same problem as rhino. I'm currently using IE7 and my OS is Windows XP. I've had to abandon Firefox because the latest version of Firefox is giving me that slow posting time problem at PC. I'm not having that problem when I use IE, but I am finding that the dropdown menus no longer work (since yesterday).

i can't use some drop downs at all.. some i can... but i make my living online so i am used to drop downs.

I was on my PC machine this morning... vista, IE8... I'll have to check later for the firefox version

right now I am on my imac OsX 10.5.8 safari ver 5.0.1

Also.. the smilies have changed in chat again - why? The ones there now look terrible... the smile face looks like it just farted, the mad one is frightening and the devil is so triggering i can't even describe... i am going to have to disable graphics there in order to chat. What was wrong with the ones we had?

It helps if you create a new tech support topic for each problem, feedback issue, etc. you may have. I'll look into the smileys.

It may be your web browser's cache that's the problem. Perhaps if you tried clearing it, that might help?

Windows IE8, XP. Sometimes the drop down will work other times the drop down will disappear when you hover over it so you cannot select anything. I have tried clearing cookies and logged in and out.

I'm using google chrome and had the same issue with the menu disappearing. I've noticed it's not as bad anymore and also sometimes you have to be real fast at getting the cursor to the dropdown LOL

I figured out that to make it work when the dropdown menu disappears when you go over it, click where it says chat but hold the mouse down like you would when dragging something, then go over the room you want and click again. That's what worked for me atleast.
Thanks for this!

The area surrounding the drop-down text is now different than it used to be a few minutes ago: it is now a light green. Camino browser for the Mac. The only thing I did was to Reload the view of a PM that I was reading.

Just tried it with Safari too: same thing. It's green. I think that is a change.

Those are the menues along the top, such as Profile. Things such as Quick Links have not changed.

Maybe it's just my eyes... ?

Pachy, the drop downs for "Forum" through "My Profile" changed to green box a few days ago (see DocJohn's post). Apparently yours are just now changing. At any rate, that is the way they are supposed to work and look now.

This evening mine are too. I thought it might be the lighting around my computer that made the difference in what I perceive, but now I don't know.

The drop down menu on the chat is not working. When you move your mouse over the chat option a drop down menu will appear but when you try to move your mouse over the room you want the drop down menu disappears????

anyone else having this problem still?

Skully--

Yes I am having that same problem. I at times am not sure I will get into the chat rooms as the menu drops but I cannot go in. I find myself having to just click on the chat bos and going into the lobby then going to where you would like to go. Not sure why this is doing that but I have had that problem for a while now.

I can only do it if I'm real quick! lol! I wonder if it is something to do with the small gap between the tab and the drop down, I might be wrong but it seems like jumping over to a small stepping stone, if you're not quick you fall in!

gosh, i thought it was just me. but several days ago i started having an awful time with using "My Profile" (upper right) to send a PM, and also getting into chat. it took many tries.

today i couldn't use my profile to send a PM but the chat worked. it's an off and on situation. don't understand the technical stuff, but i use Windows 7 if that helps. oh well, i will be patient.

We have tested the dropdowns with about a dozen different web browsers and versions and multiple operating systems from Windows XP, Vista, and 7, to Mac OS. We cannot reproduce these problems in our office, or at home.

I'm at a loss to explain it. Perhaps clearing your web browser cache might help?

Also, you can use the Blue Menu functions if the gray menu isn't working well for you. Virtually all the functionality in the gray menu is replicated in the blue menu too. (Except for the chat rooms.)
