The tutorial or how-to explanation currently used explains how to upload a picture from an independent website. It does NOT explain how to upload a picture from one's own computer. The uploading operation appears to require that there be an URL for each uploaded picture. How do I find the URL for a picture on my own computer? The instructions as they exist regarding uploads from third-party websites are useless for me. There must be a way to do this from one's own computer. Take care!

Go to your PC album and choose Upload Pictures. It will give you a dialog for you to navigate to a picture on your hard drive. Choose that and then upload. When you do, be sure to Save when you get it uploaded.

When you upload pictures to your own album, each of the Browse buttons lets you find and specify an image file on your own computer that you want to upload. It helps if you already know where on your computer your pictures are. If I'm not sure, I find and identify them before trying to upload, just to make sure I have the right dscn-something.jpg.

Once the picture is in your album, the PC software shows you a URL that you can use for including it in posts, PMs, etc.

(Any clearer?)

Use this control: Uploading Picture From Own Computer to Post Not the one here -- in the row of controls above every message box.

Hmmmm. Okay. If I understand correctly, now, I can import an image from an on-line album here at PC into a post or PM. Let's see.

Uploading Picture From Own Computer to Post

No. It doesn't work. I inserted the http label from the picture into the slot that appears upper left when I hit the "Insert Image" button, but I only get the red "x" and nothing else. What's wrong?

Yeah, I tried that, Fool, and it didn't work. Just got the red "x." What else to do?

Let's try Gus' technique. I'll go find the picture and right click on it to get the "properties" and move along from there. Hold on. Yay! It works! Gus' technique (using the http value from "properties") does the trick! THANK YOU, GUS!!! Take care!

Now let's see if we can somehow control the size of the image. I'll put a different picture here and try to upsize and downsize it. Hold on. Hmmm. No. Even though I get all the little "re-size" boxes around the picture, they don't work. They don't permit me to change the size of the picture. Help, anyone? Take care.

Inserting Pictures. Lessons learned so far: (If I'm wrong, tell me) One, you have to have the picture you want to use in an album on PC. (Yes? No? Chime in, now!) Second, you have to have that album open in one window while your PC post is open in another window. Third, you have to use the http data from the "properties" box you get to through right-clicking on the photo, and not from the topline, lefthand box at the top of the window. Okay so far. Now we need to know whether or not after doing these things you can change the size of the image. If so, how? Take care.

When I use 'insert photo' it asks me for the url and when I put the url in of my image in my own albums I get the above where is just shows the little box.

Hmmm, I can PM the screen capture to you...if you think it may help? Do you think it is an apple glitch?

Thanks for trying.

Hmmm. If I understand you correctly, you're putting the url into the thin upper left box that appears when you click on the "insert image" button. But from where do you get the url? When I took the url from the tiptop upper left corner box and then put it in the thin upper left box, it didn't work. However, when I took the url from the image information display case after right clicking on the image and then clicking on "properties," it worked - that was the technique described by Gus. This is all so terribly hard to describe.

Oooh. I haven't the faintest idea whether it's an apple glitch. I've never worked with macs, only with PC's. And when you say "screen capture" I really don't understand. How do you do a "screen capture"? (Sigh!) I'm not a tech person at all, at all. I have to learn things the hard way. Thank you and take care!

Great, Hunny!

Now you mentioned being able to resize those images, or did I misunderstand? Can you resize them once you post them? Or do you have to do it before you post them? Take care!

Hey, Gus! Thanks for all the information so far! Can you enlighten us on the issue of changing the size of images once they're inserted into posts or private messages or visitor messages? Is this something that has to be done before then or after? And is it possible to import pictures into posts or PM's or VM's directly from one's computer without having to upload into a PC album?

Take great care!

Let's see again whether this system works. I've just tried to insert an image from an album into a visitor's message. And it didn't work at all after several tries. I'm going to try and insert the picture here. It does work. BUT, I tried several times with a different picture and IT DIDN'T WORK! I'm going to try again with the failed picture in a different post. Take care!

Okay, here goes: Yes, it does work. But I didn't do anything differently! What the heck could the problem be? One of the problems COULD be that when I hit the "insert image" button I get a message that asks whether or not I want to allow scripted directions. I always punch "yes" but maybe that makes a difference? Does anyone have any idea? Take care.

Yeah. It worked in the visitor's message too. I have no idea why I wasn't successful before. There's more here than meets the eye. And it's the old, old computer story. Forget trying to figure things out rationally. Forget understanding. Just do it over and over and over again until you find some way that works and be satisfied with that. If you can remember what you've figured out! Lord, Lord, Lord. Take care!
