When do my posts display my avatar? I mean, how many posts do I have to make to get the avatar displayed? Also, is there a forum where people can post their 'story' (like, what happened to them, etc.)?
And lastly (sorry), errr how do I find posts that I have written, easily?
Thanks

me.

Hi colmnach,

I just want to make a differentiation between your profile picture and your avatar. At the moment, I do see a profile picture for you (it says "Crow" in it). Profile pictures are displayed on your profile only, not on the forums.

I'm not aware of a restriction on who can or can't upload an avatar. The avatar is the picture displayed on the forums, with all of your posts and replies to others. Maybe try again to upload it, or PM me and I can see if I can be of any assistance.

As for posting your story, it really depends what you're comfortable with. Lots of new members post an introduction in the "New Member Introductions" forum, which can include your story. If the reason that brought you here is more based on something like depression though, maybe post in the Depression forum. There are a lot of different forums to choose from. Also, if a moderator or administrator thinks that your post is better suited to another forum, we may move it so you get better support.

To find all of the posts you've made, you can click on your name (on the forums) and a drop-down menu called "Find More Posts by colmnach" will show up. Clicking that will give you a list. Otherwise, you can also can click on the "Search" button in the navigation bar at the top of the screen (it's beside a link called "Quick Links") and click "Advanced Search". That opens up a dialogue box where you can search for a username to find all of the posts that member has made. (The direct link to Advanced Search is here: http://forums.psychcentral.com/search.php)

Hope that helps!

Christina

I vaguely remember that when I was new here I couldn't upload a custom image so I settled for one of the (900 or so!) stock avatars. It's possible that I just hadn't found the control for uploading yet, or that it wasn't working for me yet -- or that I didn't even try it because I didn't expect it to work.

As I understand it, new members currently need 5 approved posts to be able to post links or images. I don't know if a similar requirement applies to uploading avatars or not.

Anyway, I notice that colmnach now has 17 posts and has apparently managed to upload his own avatar. (Is that... an eagle?)
Thanks for this!
