I have been trying to post on a thread, I wrote an extremely long answer, but whenever I try to post it, it keeps saying I have used 56 images in my post and am limited to using 12. In actual fact I haven't used ANY images. I did type my post on Word and then copy and paste it so I don't know if that's what's causing it, the thing is I usually do this when I post so that I don't lose any long comments I make through poor internet connection, and I've never come across this problem before.

Did you use any smiles in your post? Images includes the use of smilies!
Thanks for this!

No I literally used nothing at all! That's why it was confusing because it said I used over 50!

Things I'd try if I got that message:

1. Copy-and-paste the first 20% or so of my post into the text box, click on Preview, and see if anything there gets rendered as a smilie. If not, keep adding about 20% at a time and previewing till I either have the whole post entered or I have a better idea what part of it triggers the too-many-images message.

2. Save my proposed post as a .txt file to eliminate any formatting that Word might be adding to it. Open the .txt file, copy-paste the text (presumably with nothing added) into the text box where I want to post it, and see if I still get the error message.

3. If I'd been using the WYSIWYG editor to enter my post, switch to the text-only editor (with the Issue with posting on a thread control at the upper right of the text box). Paste in my proposed post, work my way through the text in the box line by line, and see if there's anything unexpected there. If not, try to post it and see if I still get the message.

Different versions of Word can do and add funky things when copying and pasting into an HTML editor like ours here. Try this instead --

Copy and paste into Notepad first, then copy and paste from Notepad into the HTML editor here. Notepad will remove any funky Word stuff.

Thanks Doc. John. I didn't know that, but it's good to know.

I'm glad to hear Notepad is still around. I use it all the time but I didn't want to mention it in case it was one of those features that users of newer Windows versions had never heard of.
Thanks for this!

Is it possible you used the "quote" and replied. Perhaps there were a bunch of smilies in the original post that you were replying to? Just a thought.

LOL...this reminds me of my old computer, on which I had accidentally uninstalled Word (I know..how does this "accidentally" happen?). Every time I wrote a typed report for school, I had to use Notepad and take it in on my flash drive to print out in class. That got old quick

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
