Quantcast is a legitimate web analytics tool that has been around for at least 5 or 6 years. We use three analytics tools here at Psych Central to help measure our audience and traffic. (We use three different ones because they all provide different data points and different kinds of information.)
All of these analytics tools measure data in aggregate only -- none of what these things collect is tied to anyone personally or anyone's account. We will have to re-examine the use of Quantcast, however, given this news. We don't want to work with a company that doesn't respect the choices of its users. DocJohn
