Every so often, it's a good idea to review some good account security practices, and ensure you are up-to-date about such things!

1. No legitimate website -- including NeuroTalk or PsychCentral -- will ever ask you for your password that isn't that website's specific login screen. So if you get a PM or email saying you need to send such information to them in reply, you can ensure the request is illegitimate and should be brought to our attention.

2. We will never ask you for money in order to maintain your membership with us. Never. Period. Membership is and always will be 100% free. If you ever get any offer from NeuroTalk or PsychCentral asking you for money, it is not legitimate and should be brought to our attention.

3. I know it's a pain, but you should get into the habit of changing your passwords every once in awhile. I try and do so at least once every 2 or 3 years, while some security experts recommend 6 or 12 months. One simple way to do is to just add a number on to the end of it, or change the number that's already there (try not to just add 1, as that's pretty obvious if someone knows your old password).

You should also consider -- if not using a different password for every website -- at least using a very strong, difficult to guess password for financial and other sensitive websites, and another password for everything else. That way even if a website does get hacked, if it's not your financial institution, you can rest a little more easy knowing they still didn't get your banking password or the like.

And as usual, PLEASE do NOT use any proper name or word that appears in the dictionary as a part of your password. Make up a nonsense word, tack on some numbers and that's a very strong password.
