Why does no one answer my posts? I need some advice here. I might as well not bother with this forum anymore. I might want to delete my account. I am talking to myself really. The people who are ACTUALLY helping is my brother and people I know.

Oh don't give up..........I have not seen your post really. Don't know where they are. That might be the same problem with others...or they have no experience with what you posted so they don't want to offer any info that may not be good.

Sorry for this.....and remember some of us or all of us are consumed by our own problems and just keep posting about themselves and don't answer a lot of posts because they too need so much help....

Don't take it personally. You might direct some of them on your friends profile page or send a private message to the friends you talk to a lot here. I bet that would help a lot!!!

hugs;
Dee

Hey Happycheeks... I tend to post in the schizo forums and occasionally bipolar. Sometimes autistic... so it could just be that you post elsewhere, and I don't see your posts. I'll look out for them though... where do you normally post? And I'm sorry if I've made you feel neglected, especially since you're a fellow brit.

I'm glad your brother is helping you though, that's good.

It's still pretty early in the morning around here. Give people a chance to get going in the morning. I looked at your last two posts and they just haven't been viewed by very many people yet. Generally you will get one reply for every 20 or so views or something like that. So actually how many replies you have gotten isn't unreasonable particularly considering the time differences. It isn't that no one cares, but people can only respond to the posts they read and not that many people have read your posts yet. Give it time.

I just posted in another thread that the only thing I have a problem with at PsychCentral is it is such a massive site, while most Internet forum-style websites seem more like small to medium size communities, PC is like two or three huge cities combined! I feel like I need to leave a trail of breadcrumbs to navigate everything.

I've only been a member here for a couple of weeks and I doubt I have even scratched the surface as far as reading the forums. I feel like everyone here (everyone I've had any contact with or shared comments with) truly is compassionate, encouraging and wants to be supportive. Like others have already said, I don't think anyone at all has been deliberately neglectful, it's just hard to even begin to keep up.

This is something to consider, as well: PC has an option to exclude from view certain forums that a member doesn't use. So even when it appears that a lot of people are online, many of them might be viewing the forums that you don't post in. If one of your threads has many views buts few posts, keep in mind that guests view the threads as well.

Many people are just shy and don't post immediately after reading a thread...don't worry, eventually it does even out. You're not the first person to notice this, either

Or people are like me and have no filter between their brain and mouth and often feel as though they would rather say nothing than hurt someone

Hey HappyCheeks,

Don't give up too soon.... people have answered your posts and people are always going back to posts from days/weeks and checking in. So as you say be patient. If after a few days people haven't posted on your post what I usually do is say "guys I am really needing help" or something like that and that way your letting people who you speak to know your in dire need of help. It's hard sometimes to form the words we need to answer posts, so some people may come back to your posts ok!!

Have you checked out the websites for Borderline btw?
Thanks for this!

I'm new too and post a lot in the forums without a whole lot of response. I've had good luck in the chat rooms, tho. Made some really good friends there, and gotten good feedback. Maybe you'd feel more connected there? (((hugs)))

Hey, happycheeks!

Many of us in here DO care about you very much ~ I know that I do!

In my defense, I don't own a computer & have to use the library's computer. That makes my allowed amount of time in here quite brief, unfortunately. The days that I have my girls, I can't use the library computer since they're young and dependent upon me.

That said, I am sorry. Sorry that you are feeling as though people aren't showing you the love and care that you need. {It is great that your brother and others in your physical world have been there for you to talk to though!} Psych Central is very big, like Queen of Chaos mentioned. It can be challenging to get through to individually help all those who we could. It takes time and determination. Try not to take it personally. I think that you are a very sweet girl ~ and I'd hate to see you leave, because you're feeling uncared about.

Gentle hugs to you ~ and very best wishes!

Some forums get a lot more traffic than others. The Eating disorder forum is like being on an old country road whereas the psychotherapy one is a constant freeway. They are all different!

Suggestion: Sometimes I get a better response if I put a little effort and creativity into the subject line -- make it something that arouses curiosity or is humorous. If more people click, more will reply!

The time you post a thread, also have a role to play. This board have times in it's "24 hour time cycle" where it is far more active than on other times.

This is true for a lot of social group forums, as well. Even for a group with many members, sometimes it takes a month to get a reply

NO one? Sure they do! I just checked and see that you do have replies to your threads. While there is no firm statistical data, what I've found is that if you make or exceed an average of 10 % replies to views (another words 100 people view/read your thread, but only 10 reply) then you have an active thread.

I know it can feel disappointing when you don't have the hundreds of replies like some threads... but truly, look at those threads: how old are they? are they still on topic or have they begun to travel in new directions?

You're doing fine, and I think well accepted at PC.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
