I got this message and I wonder if anyone can tell me why.

"No user specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator."

I should mention that I've had a lot of glitches in the past trying to send a message to my friend. I installed Windows 7 and it seemed to clear up most of them. Now I get a message that says "PC is not responding. Recover web page." Has anyone any idea what is going on?

"No user specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator."
That's from the PC database, as far as I know, and usually means you followed an invalid link -- for instance, to the profile of someone who no longer has an account here. That message has probably been part of the vBulletin software from way back. I'm not sure just why it suggests notifying an administrator; I can't think of too many situations where that would make any difference.
"PC is not responding. Recover web page."
I've never seen that one. I'd guess that (a.) it's coming from your browser, not PC and (b.) your browser is different from mine.

I get "PC is not responding, recover web page" on a regular basis. I just back off for a bit and come back later. Otherwise I get too frustrated.

Hmmm.....thanks FooZe. That's the root of what's puzzling me. Both the members I send to regularly have active accounts on PC.
I see where Sabrina gets the same thing......(thanks Sabrina)......I guess I'll do the same. Back away from the message and return in a while.

Could it be the storm knocked the stuffing out of PC?

Probably not, Calista. It's been working fine for me all day -- and I seem to remember DocJohn mentioning a few months ago that the servers are located in a different part of the country from where the storm hit.

I can make an "Invalid User specified" message appear by entering the URL of a profile that doesn't exist yet. I don't know what would produce a "No user specified" message.

The "PC is not responding, recover web page" message reminds me a little of the browser timeout messages I sometimes get in Firefox 2. I think mine usually say something like "unable to connect" and offer me an option to try again. I interpret them as a hitch somewhere along the Internet. Once PC answers, even if the server is busy doing backups or something, my browser seems content to wait indefinitely for the page I requested.
Thanks for this!

Got one today. It seemed to be caused by an Internet hiccup and went away when I clicked the retry button at the bottom. Mine said:
The connection has timed out

The server at forums.psychcentral.com is taking too long to respond.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Is that anything like what yours say?
Thanks for this!

Yes! That's what I get with Firefox. Doesn't happen too often though.
