Is it possible to lock old threads so that they are not brought up again months or even years later? I feel it is confusing to members when an old thread is brought to the front again when it was probably already discussed to the death in the first place.

We do not lock old threads generally just because they're old, because it would require a lot of work on our parts to keep track of such things.
We have no rules about someone bumping an old thread for whatever reasons they believe it might be helpful to others. DocJohn
