Hello PC Moderators!

I was wondering if there is any chance that the different eating disorders will ever get their own board sections?

I have in the past been in treatment with people w/anorexia or bulimia and I never felt like I fit with those suffering from the above. Granted, we struggle with similar issues but as a binge eater (I don't purge or "compensate") I have always felt judged by the others, anorexics especially. I find I am seen as "gross" and it's hard to recover with so much judgement in the room. I am not saying anyone has done that here, I just find some of the talk deflating to me.

It's hard for me to read someone who is under 110 pounds say that they feel gross for eating an oz. of food. Then how do they feel about me, the binger? I just wish I could post with those going through the same thing.

No offense to anyone struggling in a different way. I just wanted to ask pc, thanks.

I, too, think there should be an overeater's section. I have trouble relating to the anorexics/bulimics since that's so far from where I'm at. Thank you, GrowlyCat for proposing this.

growlycat, any word from the moderator(s)? I'm praying for sub-forums in the eating disorder section!

Hi Suki and BCloud! I appreciate your thoughts on this! I was so afraid I would just offend everyone here!! I was really afraid of sounding judgmental myself by wanting to talk elsewhere.

No word yet from the moderators! If I get an email I'll pass the info onward!!

Thanks!!!

Hi growlycat,

I just wanted to add that I can see your point. I post in that forum as an anorexic, and take no offense to what you said. I can see how the differences in the form the eating disorder comes out makes it hard to relate. I just don't want you to feel bad, I never think that way of people who suffer binge eating or over eating. I just see people who are suffering in a similar way, coming out in a different form. I think most anorexic judge and see themselves in a whole different (harsher) way than they see others.

I agree that you need somewhere where you and others feel comfortable and safe to post freely. So I'll root for this too. I have seen post from time to time on that forum who were confused about which the forum was for.

sounds like a good idea. I know I don't feel comfy posting in that forum myself about my over eating.

This is off the wall and maybe not a good idea, but I wondered if anyone was interested in a heroes page, where we can honour members of special merit and courage?

If there's someone you want to honor, you can do so in the Kudos & Affirmations forum.

I don't think I'd volunteer to determine officially who is and isn't a member of special merit and courage.

Whether a person suffers from bingeing, purging, starving, overexercising, anorexia, obesity etc it all comes under Eating Disorders. No-one should feel ashamed about any of these as it is a form of coping with mental issues.

Having said that all of these issues have their own peculiarities. I have been in a mental clinic for the past year and the help was mainly directed to those that had anorexia. It was so helpful when I could identify with certain aspects of this disease in others.

I think having sub forums under an eating disorder would be a wonderful thing. Please can we have more scope to talk about our problems with eating disorders?
Thanks for this!
