I keep trying, but my copy and paste only result in lots of garbled text and not the picture/image I want to include in a post or in a message on a friend's page.

Can anyone help?

Have you seen the tutorial on this subject? Community Feedback & Technical Support > Tutorials & How-To's > Walkthrough - How to Post a Picture In Your Post

If anything in that tutorial turns out not to work right for you, post again and tell us how far you got.

Either I am completely tech dumb, or something has changed since that tutorial was written. I was prompted to open an account - but did not find any way to search what might already be available on ImageShack for me to upload.

Try scrolling past the Image Shack screen in the Tutorial-Walkthrough - How to Post a Picture In Your Post. The Image Shack screen is just there as an example of a place to get images, and only to show how/where to find the link code for photos so that you can copy and paste the links as an example. If you scroll further down in the Tutorial, it will shows a more recognizable screen for posting on PC that has the the icon (yellow box with the mountain peaks and sun/moon in it) to use to upload images when posting in threads and PM's. Perhaps this will help. Did this work?

You are welcome to send me a PM to try it out posting an image. Good luck.

I'm not familiar with ImageShack but it looks more like a place to store your own images for posting elsewhere, than a place to borrow images from someone else.

As a Psych Central member, you can upload images to one or more albums located on your profile page. You don't seem to have created any yet. Find the My Profile link at the upper left of this page or any Forums page:
Inserting Images
Clicking on it takes you to Your Control Panel (left column). The 7th link down says "Pictures & Albums".

Once you have an album set up, you can upload images to it from your computer (assuming you already have some stored there) and link to them in posts, PMs or VMs. It saves you the trouble and possible expense of setting up an account at an image-sharing site. Even when those sites are free, they often keep reminding you how much more you could do if you had a paid account.
Thanks for this!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
