In reading the articles written by Tom Wootton about BiPolar disorder there seems to be only one purpose: directing people back to his website to purchase his programs. Am I wrong on this? Am I missing something? I thought this website was devoted to helping people find solutions to their problems, to give expert opinions on mental health issues.
I think PsychCentral looses a huge amount of credibility by bringing on bloggers only concerned with selling their books and treatment programs. |

I think Tom Woottons articles are insightful and give much needed perspective, although he does plug in his project. But so do others - they all display books they written on top of their blog and refer to their work... I guess nobody is gonna blog for mere altruism.

Thank you for the feedback.
As part of agreeing to blog with us, professionals and bloggers are given pretty wide latitude to plug their own books, CDs, DVDs, and other programs. It seems fitting -- if you're interested in the topic, and like what you're reading in their blog, you may be interested in actually purchasing something they created. I'm not aware of a commercial website that doesn't do this sort of small promotion for their authors. Best, DocJohn
