I can never load chat. All I ever load is a blank, grey screen with no space to type or nothing? :/.

Two suggestions, Mr. V:

1. Have you tried the No Popup Chat option? It turns out that the regular chat can't handle some usernames with punctuation in them. "Mr. Venomous" could very well be one of them.

2. Does anything in these threads look relevant to your situation?

Hmm…I use a satellite Internet connection because I am in too remote of an area to have broadband.

Yes, sadly, satellite broadband providers do not allow access to the port the chat system uses, apparently, and so it won't work. A previous member troubleshooted the issue with their provider and that's what they discovered...

Mr. Venomous,

I used to have satellite internet as well and was never able to access chat. The internet provider will deny they block any ports but it's not true.

What I had to do was use a very inexpensive dial up connection in order to access chat. I used Netzero and it cost like $15 per month.

I guess it's possible that the software they use for those satellite connections is already using the port (for chatting with the satellite! lol). The provider's customer service people might not know about it, or might know only that it's not something they have any control over.
Thanks for this!
