Hello. Can anyone tell me how to add a photo ~graphic to a written message in someone's Visitor Messages? Not talking about an avatar, or the picture on my Public Profile page.....someone already helped me with those Thanks in advance!

1. the image needs to be hosted on the web... that gets it a URL
a URL looks like this: http://forums.psychcentral.com/pictu...ictureid=23915

2. copy that URL

3. The site makes it really easy after that. You click in the icon from the selection above...a mouseover will say "insert image."
Clicking that will give you a popup "Please enter the URL of your image"

4. click inside the text box of the popup and paste the URL and click okay.
The image will be placed in your post wherever the cursor was.

How to include a photo ~graphic in a message.....

If you need to do it manually (someone here has a problem w/ js/ajax called functions) then use the code I used to post that pic:

I hope the site doesn't parse that
There are free image hosting sites on the web...just do a search. And this site lets you upload images to albums that you can use to post pics here.
Thanks for this!

George I am pretty computer savy but you confused me...I just go to a site and copy a pic and paste it in the visitors box..Some sites won't let you copy so its a little trial and error.....cheezeburger.com and ubercomments always let you copy a pic. Senor gifs is also a great site I use very often for the animated pics.

Whimsey girl do you understand copy and paste and which side of your mouse to use?

Yes missbelle, pretty much. Using a mouse you can right click and choose copy image location or you can click "view image" which takes you directly to the image URL and then copy the url from the address bar. Then you paste into the text box here as you normally do or do it manually. That's called hotlinking. You're posting a pic that belongs to someone else and also using their bandwidth... a tiny bit of it but some folks are touchy about it. A lot of sites don't like it and some will replace the pic you used with a really unpleasant one. And some sites use some sort of js function to protect images from being posted from their site.
On that subject that link above is a hyperlink with anchor text.
Here's the way I do it tho there are other ways:
write anything you want here
click
BTW that's a pretty cool site for making motivational poster images
BTW I enjoy the pics you post on my page

HaHa, ok well now after reading this thread I'm completely confused....but I don't have time to play around with things anyway tonight. Will try to decipher the conversation between the two of you tomorrow. But to answer your question missbelle, yes I am a prolific copy and paster. Thanks to both of you for the input......

Yes sometimes you just 'copy' then paste or if it says 'copy image location'...you then use this box How to include a photo ~graphic in a message..... and paste. yes missbelle should know ...she the posting fairy who puts smiles on our faces. When I read the title of this thread too fast, I thought it said "How Do I Send A Graphic Message" lol.

Yay good job. I used to use photobucket but sometimes the photo would disappear. This can be awkward if you're posting on a profile or just an image and nothing is there lol. I now use google images.

Thanks for asking this. I don't understand the answers so I guess I'll just have to play tomorrow when I'm more awake!
