I noticed a change in POD where the background of the search results page is now green. I checked Berka's directory and the background of the search results is also green.

I fixed this by setting the page background color to white (bgcolor="#FFFFFF")

Well, actually the simple fix is not enough. DMOZ is sending out two different templates when You do a search. Sometimes it works, somtimes the results are green.

I will not present a fix here until the situation has stabilized.

To make a temporary fix, You have to identify the table-tag that includes the green code and remove that. (You should also remove an extra body-tag.)

If anyone wants the code for the temporary fix, just send me a mail.

Right now, DMOZ seems to have some problems with their search function.

Turn internationalization off.

There is a problem in the code with the whole internationalization stuff, and I have looked at it so many times, I don't know what to do about it. Once you turn the international option off, you should see everything go back to normal.

Sorry for this problem. If anybody wants to submit a bug fix for internationalization, I'm all up for it!

Right! Just as I said in an earlier post. And there is a fix for the internationalization code there as well, but I don't think it is necessary anymore, since last time I checked it worked for MSIE anyway...

DMOZ seems to still be sending out different templates for the searches (If You do a few searches, You will eventually getting a green one.), so here is the url to the code to fix the green template:
http://www.berka.com/fix2002-04-11.txt
place that code in the part of the program that modifies $pod_line

I tried to add your fix to the green screen problem but keep coming up with errors. I have to admit that my knowledge of this sort of programming is limited to "cut & paste".

Would it be possible to get more details on how to add the patch for those of us that are cgi challanged?

Hello

I tried BeRKA's fix and it seems to work. I noticed I had to wait about a day for the page (I tried the search on) to clear. I think it has something to do with cacheing on our server??

After first implementing the fix, the page I was on still showed green. But the next day it had cleared

Thankyou for the fix!

What line number, of where exactly, should we change this code? Can someone give us a starting point and ending point in the code to be removed, and then where to insert this fix?

Is it only line 318 we modify?

I went ahead and just changed the table colors in pod.cgi at line 318 and that gave me a white background instead of a green.

Thank you!

Mark

If anyone could email where to place this fix, that would be great. I have placed whee I believe it to go in pod.cgi, however, I still get green pages.

One problem with my fix that I know that others have had:

It is posted at a text file. If You look at it with MSIE, the browser will think that it is a html file and display faulty code. Use netscape, or view the source of the code.

I must admit I have been unable to correct the problem. Berka's directory seems to have fixed it though.
