It seems to be working for at least some members:
Chat Room Status
Members Online: 8

[followed by a list of rooms
and the names of the
8 members using them]
What, if anything, changed at your end between the last time you were able to chat, and now?

Have you reset your computer, cleared your cache, your cookies?

Maybe it is a different browser you are using?

The more information you provide, the more likely you're going to get an answer that may be helpful.

- Have you updated your web browser lately?
- Have you tried clearing your web browser's cache?
- Have you changed your internet service provider lately?
- Have you tried using a different web browser to access chat? What was the outcome?
- Have you recently installed or updated virus software on your computer?
- Have you recently installed or updated malware software on your computer?

Folks, if you don't answer the questions I posed previously in this thread, we can't help you.

Chat does not work on most mobile platforms at this time, including Android. Sorry. We are looking at alternatives to enable this...

That would answer my question. I have the phone issue so that would be why it doesn't load. No problem. I will be patient and chat on my computer when I am at home.

Thanks

- Have you updated your web browser lately?
I update firefox periodicaly, but i never have problem with the chat before even I updated

- Have you tried clearing your web browser's cache?
I do that too every day, but never have problem with the chat before until now

- Have you changed your internet service provider lately?
No I have not

- Have you tried using a different web browser to access chat? What was the outcome?
I almost never use IE now, but I did just for this time, and still the result is the same.

- Have you recently installed or updated virus software on your computer?
McAfee update itself periodically, but if it's something they think it's danger, they would have indicated

- Have you recently installed or updated malware software on your computer?
no.

If two different browsers don't work, it suggests the problem lies with your virus software or computer's firewall software blocking our chat software from the port it needs to access, or some weird change made by your ISP (which would be highly unusual) doing the same. We need port 8080 for chat, so check this document out, it may help:

How to configure McAfee Personal Firewall to allow inbound connections on specific ports

First I want to say thank you for helping, because you are not obligated to and also it's quite a hassel.

I read link you gave me:
"How to configure McAfee Personal Firewall to allow inbound connections on specific ports"

Then that's how far I can get to (see image below). I don't know how to fill into the forms. I can half-ly understand what you say (and the article in the link), due to my limited knowledge of computer.

The "Chat" doesn't work

The "Chat" doesn't work

Before "edit" I only able to upload a small image, so I typed out the form (coz they don't allow me to copy and paste >"<). Then later I found a way to upload a bigger image. But I already typed so I will leave it here anyways (I don't want to delete my effort)

Quote:
Open a port on your PC so a service can be accessed by other PCs on your network and the Internet.

Add System Service Port

System Service Name: [fill in the blank]

System Service Category: [fill in the blank]

Service Description: [a blank box]

Enter single port numbers separated by commas, or port ranges with dashes, for example 137-139, 445, 400-5000.

Local TCP/IP Ports: [fill in the blank]

Local UDP Ports: [fill in the blank]

Open ports to: (2 choices)
[ PCs in Work and Home networks only]
[All PCs]

Forward port activity to other PCs using Internet Connection Sharing.
[only a “Yes” box] (have the option to click the box or not to click the box)

Try waiting about 20 seconds. Sometimes it takes time to load.

The name and description and stuff is whatever you want to call it ... "chat for PC"

The ports for TCP and UDP Fields are: 8080

Save it, restart your firewall, and you should be all set.

If you need further assistance perhaps Mcaffe technical support can help too.

Whats up Peguinsing,
Have you found any tech support on
this website? Sorry I have no idea where that
might be.
Try scrolling down to the bottom of this screen
and try to find a link to the webmaster.
I hope you can get your issue corrected.
I myself get a mild panic when something doesn't
quite work right.
