1) it was cluttering the UI (user interface) without adding anything of value - the THANKS button is enough.

2) it is not that we need MORE Facebook-like stuff everywhere on the internet. We already have enough.

So, thanks to the folks who must have decided to halt the trial of the LIKE button. I hope it will become a permanent decision.
Thanks for this!

I would use the hug button if there wasn't a display of how many hugs members give. I don't like that at all.

hamster-bamster!

I also wanted to thank the Doc and team for the decision on ending the "like" button here. I really appreciate that our discomfort was taken into account.

I don't know where it says that. I think I've seen it somewhere, but why does it bother you? (I'm just curious.)

I didn't used to do the hug thing on other websites, but I think it's a handy part of the culture here. I don't have to make a post to use it. (Not arguing with you, btw, just curious.)

I like this!

Hugs are listed next to people's user icons by their posts. I think they're a great thing and I just ignore the counts

Funny thing, though, I was just looking at the screen and I don't see it there, so I guess it can be turned off and I must have done that.

Having numerics of hugs seems to measure us in some way. I don't want to compare and be compared in that way. It is probably just one of my personal issues. I don't like to be touched/hugged in real life and when I first joined PC I was even uncomfortable with virtual hugs.

I'm going to close this thread. We closed some other threads about the "Like" button earlier. At the moment there's still one open, here.

Here's DocJohn's announcement that we didn't need any more discussion of the "Hugs" feature.
Thanks for this!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
