Sometimes a member just goes missing. It may not be someone you know but it's someone who interests or intrigues you and/or you just care about for no particular reason. I'm speaking strictly about current members. Is it okay to ask if anyone knows if they are okay?
Thanks for this!

have wondered this myself, George, and would like to see responses. Think some folks do this, anyway, but not sure. In any case, know what you mean. I think we may get some good answers here. Thanks for starting this thread!

I hope so too but I want to be clear that I'm not asking about people who have left or have been suspended. They are still members but haven't posted in a while. I know that I have friends here I communicate with offsite so I'm thinking that others do as well and they might know if these people are okay. Not that we could do anything if they aren't okay but still. It may be considered an invasion of privacy... I don't know.
Thanks for this!

I was kind of thinking, since I went through the list of members that have been gone for a long time:

What if they died and no one knew?

I'm not sure if they were close friends with anyone on here like the other members who have recently passed...

How about sending those members a pm asking if they are okay? Many members have their pm's sent to them via email.

It's difficult on a website to keep track of everyone and sometimes members come and go, it's the nature of the internet.

You are also welcome to pm a team member regarding a member, not that we could ever go into detail, but we might know if someone is just taking a break and is okay.

Asking about the health & well-being of another active, current member is perfectly fine. We allow those threads all the time.

But a PM is often the best way to go, since there's no guarantee the member will see your thread.

I think it's a nice thing to do. And often someone knows if the person is okay and can answer.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. There are a few people I know that go for long periods w/o posting but I get occasional emails or PM's from them so I know they are okay. Maybe not great but at least okay.
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions to everyone.

Yes there's a few people I worry about and wish I knew if they're okay. Some are older and then I worry they're in bad health or worse.

Id think it would be fine. As long as you dont harass them or stalk them theres no reason why you couldnt check in on them that i see.
