i wish there was some way to know who used to be named what, it's a little disconcerting to find some stranger on my friends list, and not a clue who they were ~ :P

i understand getting a fresh start and all, but it's a little bit like getting a fresh hit, too, if the person was on an IGNORE list, they are Gone~!

likely too technical to do anything about,,, just wishing~

I didn't know you were able to change your name.

I thought we had to make a new account?
Thanks for this!

You can make a one time name change. You have to send a PM to an administrator, such as DocJohn.
Thanks for this!

If a member changes their username, and they're your "friend," I would hope they might send you a PM to let you know. Of course, not everyone on our friends list may be an actual friend, so your mileage may vary.

If a member changes their username, it doesn't impact their friends or ignore status. If they were on your ignore list before, they should still be on it after the name change.

It against the community guidelines to create a second account, unless you have a specific reason and get prior approval before creating it. Members who have duplicate accounts risk losing all of their membership privileges with us.

All members are welcomed to a one-time username change by PMing one of the administrators (preferably not me). We limit it to one to avoid just this kind of confusion...

When I changed my name I posted then I also put it in my profile for a good while. I figured the profile was a good way because if someone had doubts they could just go there if they wondered who the heck is this. And see that "Jimi has been known as Jimrat". You could also put it in the line how you are which shows at every post and let it be there a few weeks. I didn't do it because I didn't think of it.

But I would think even if it is not a rule, it is very nice if you put it in that field for a while or in your profile. It's much easier to spot than if it is just a post because everyone doesn't read all posts.

I did not inform my friends about my name change. I hope they didn't feel ill at ease.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
