NOW what do we do with THEM??? I hate them. Is there any software out yet to block them?

Lots of software already on the market claims to stop pop-unders. I don't think it's that much different from pop-ups?
Here's a free one that says it also stops pop-unders: http://pcworld.com/downloads/file/fi...scription.html They are obnoxious. I stay away from the sites that have them, themselves. If you're going to use pop-ups or pop-unders or other obnoxious content (too many side ads so your site looks more like an ad site than a reference) then I ain't coming back.

What are you using for pop-ups now? That should work for pop-unders as well. The Google bar is good/free too?
I don't block pop-ups as I want to see what sites are using them and which ones, etc. and they get in the way of a lot of places where I have to have pop-ups for responses, etc. since they block all. It's too much trouble to try to do partial filters and tweak the darn software so much, might has well just click them off myself; whether they show up or get blocked (and other things I need get blocked) it's equally annoying to me so I just do the manual, "simple" way. I do that on e-mail too. I have one account that gets nothing but spam, maybe 1 in a 500 emails that is worth reading/something I need so I just have all the mail delivered to my trash and then just glance at the titles quickly and move the occasional one I want. Otherwise, I just log out and the trash/emails go bye-bye without being noticed/looked at. If I find a site with pop-ups I don't like I don't use the site.

Yeah. One thing I like about firefox is that it is pretty great at blocking popups.
I don't think I've had a single one on firefox... It also tends to have less problems than Internet Explorer when it comes to trying to load pages etc... It also has these nifty little tabs option so you don't have a clutter full of windows... It also has a nifty little google search bar next to the address bar to make google searching even easier than it already is... Anyways... Enough already ![]() (Though downside is that sometimes it can be a little slow to launch. Once it is launched though...) I've even downloaded Firefox at work and I think it is better than safari too :-) |
