Okay,I get you cannot reply to OP if you are in ignore.

But what if you reply to a thread, OP makes some accusation or snide comment and then puts you on ignore? Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of "protecting yourself"? and turns into tool for being passive agressive?

I've had similar experience (I believe with the same person) where I had been put on ignore which was fine. I get that and it doesn't bother me. However, when I reply to another thread that this person didn't start in the first place, this person apparently pulls me off ignore long enough to read what I write (which makes no sense to me as they feel the need to "ignore" me), makes a comment (generally snide), then puts me back on ignore.

I'm not going to put this person on ignore. I'm not the one with the issue. In fact, as far as I know, there was no altercation/reason to put me on ignore in the first place. They don't particularly bother me otherwise, but it is really passive-aggressive behavior (which perhaps explains why they need PC) Oh well. All part of being on PC I suppose.

If you have specific examples of where this has happened, the best thing to do is to let us know about it privately, via PM, so we can investigate and take action. Indeed, if a member is using the ignore functionality in this manner, they are abusing this feature and will be notified.

Ive had this happen to me, what I do is report the post that contains the accusation/snide comment because all posts are supposed to be supportive in nature.

as for their usage of the ignore feature I dont take it personally. who's to say that person may have been having a bad day or saw another post that upset them after posting to me, so instead of making accusations/snide remarks to all my posts that day they decide to protect their self by putting me back on their ignore list....

btw....a person doesnt have to remove someone from their ignore list in order to read..

there have been many times when I have read here without logging in. there have been some times that I have read something while not logged in and logged in to reply and discovered I had that person on ignore the day before so not remembering why I put them on ignore, take them off, then reply. then rereading my posts and any replys I have gotten the day before jogs my memory on why I put the person on ignore the day before and replace that person on my ignore list so that I dont have the same problem I had the day before with that person.

my point is without being in the head of another person how is it possible to know that this person is abusing the ignore list/feature in this way. there can be many different reasons why a person puts someone on ignore, takes them off, replies and then puts them back on,

Im sorry but I just dont take it personally when I encounter someone has replied to me and then placed me on ignore, or taken me off ignore, replied to me then replaced me on ignore....its their problem not mine.

I just report any posts that go against the rules here like a post picking a fight with someone, contains something questionable, suicidal, what ever, and explain in the report box why I am reporting them and then the moderators take it from there.
