I know others have posted they were upset to find out someone had them on ignore by trying to post in a thread. It happened to me today.

Gotta say I had a different reaction. My initial reaction was WTF!?!?! Then I checked to see who the OP was. I don't even know the person!!! As far as I know I've never had any interaction with them. Apparently I've said or done something they did not like since they have me on ignore, but I see no reason to be upset. Especially since I don't know who the heck they are. Seems to me that this is more about them than me.

just my two cents worth....

so you have to try to respond to a person and be denied to know that you're on their ignore list? Is that the only way to find out? I've always wondered.

I'm not sure, but I believe that's the only way to find out. Well, I suppose they could send you a PM saying "I'm putting you on ignore." but what would be the point?

I guess it's a sign of my own healing/growth that I find this amusing. There was a time in my life I would have been flattened by it. After my original WTF reaction, I think it's kind of funny. I don't even know this person and they have me on ignore!

Maybe you said something somewhere they didn't like?

I sometimes kinda wonder if there are people who have almost whole PC on ignore except select few (somebody actually asked for this option long time ago... not sure if they were joking).

That's my assumption too.

I've used the ignore feature myself. I appreciate that we have it available. I don't understand putting a bunch of people on ignore though. If someone finds most of the members here bothersome, why stay around? Why not try another support site if they aren't finding what they need here?

There have been a number of threads about the ignore feature in this forum over the past few months. DocJohn has replied to them and explained in detail the following:

Quote:
It also helps not to make any assumptions why someone may have placed you on ignore. It may be they are temporarily under a lot of stress and put some people that wrote something triggering in the past on their list just for a short while. It may be because they don't find another member's contributions helpful. It may be because they need some space. We assume it's about us (if we're on the ignore list), while it's just as likely to be about them and their needs in that moment.
At this time, there is no way of knowing before trying to post, if a member has you on ignore

Because there has been much discussion regarding the ignore feature and DocJohn has addressed those threads, I'm going to close this thread.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
