I have Windows 8. The lobby is in gray. I can chat in IE but not Firefox. Adobe Acrobat and Shockwave are both enabled. What am I missing?

you might have to open Firefox (usually an icon to the very far upper right of the browser window) and tell SETTINGS to Always Allow Cookies from PC. i had a bad experience with Firefox and chat, but other people say it works fine for them...

good luck~! and congrats on the new puter~

Hey Gus, long time no see! Thanks for the suggestion. I checked and the 'allow cookies' is checked. I'm stumped. I've had Firefox chat problems in the past too. Oh well, I'll just have to use IE for chatting.
Thanks for this!

I had the same issue. I found out that when I clear the Cached Web Content, I am able to get into chat again.
In Firefox choose the path Tools -> Options -> 'Clear Now' in the section Cached Web Content, and then click OK. I'm not an IT-specialist but this works for me although it is a pain to do this extra step now.

i havent used the chat system yet (timid) but it looks like it uses java, did you make sure your java is updated to the latest version? Verify Java Version

if that doesnt work, which hopefully it should, then does it give you an error # or code that tells you what happened when trying to load?
also if you have 64bit system you could try using Waterfox, its firefox alternative for 64bit systems ( i use it with windows 7 just fine )

ps; under firefox tools, options, and content, there is a javascript checkbox - might check to see if its checked

Have you tried the No Popup Chat option yet?

Also, DocJohn wrote about chat issues in more detail in the thread http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=228725.

Chat does not use Java.

It uses Flash (which you need to have installed on your computer from here:

Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player

(Uncheck the McAfee virus software if you already use and have virus software installed, as you should.) But if it's working in IE, then you probably already have Flash installed properly.

Usually we have problems with Internet Explorer, so I'm not sure what the issue is with Firefox. Odd.

I tried every single suggestion - still nothing! It's almost like something is blocking it.
