Hi, sorry if this is explained somewhere else already ... I did search everywhere I could think to find an explanation.
I haven't been able to get part of a person's message quoted at the top of my reply. Can someone please tell me how to do this??

Yes, thank you! (I wondered if I'd managed to express it clearly?!)

You did, then. Move your cursor, to below [quote] brackets, to get reply "" function to quote. You can move above [quote] to keep quote below.
Don't accidentally, delete [brackets], it will quote, but May appear funky. If you make mistakes, try, try again...no one is nitpicking, at least I'm not ![]() Quote:

Just thought of, too: when working from a PC, use reply, directly from post, you want to quote. You can multi quote with those symbols that look like a piece of paper with ""(symbols) over it...Hope that helps

HealingMe gave great examples. There are a lot of different ways to quote other peoples posts. The easiest way for me is to hit the 'reply' button at the bottom of someones post (

I have never been able to cope with the multiple quotes process here, so I often default to manually copying pieces I want to quote and then pasting the quote between these brackets:
{quote} quote goes here {/quote} which tells the system to start quoting, then end quoting -- EXCEPT that instead of {} I use the square brackets [ and ] If I use the square brackets instead of the curly ones in this message, it gets translated into a quote! ![]()

Years ago I went into more detail about the mechanics of quoting, here: http://forums.psychcentral.com/commu...ing-quote.html
I think the simple answer to the OP's question is: instead of going directly to the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the thread, click on the Reply/Reply With Quote button under the particular post that you want to reply to. If anyone has any difficulty finding that button, see also: http://forums.psychcentral.com/tutor...ml#post1368845 |
