Is there any way for us to upload our own avatars? Or can we only choose from the pictures given?

Where you edit your avatar, there's a box at the bottom of the page. There's you can take one from your computer or browse other places. It looks like this:

Custom Avatar If you have a custom avatar and want to keep it as it is, leave the fields below as they are.

Use Custom Avatar

You may upload a new custom image using the controls below.

Option 1 - Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website
Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 85 by 85 pixels or 488.3 KB (whichever is smaller).

Did they do away with this option? I clicked on Edit Avatar and looked to the bottom past the predefined avatars, but there isn't a box to add your own. Any help? Thanks.

You need a certain number of approved posts before you can upload an avatar or other file. The number used to be 10; I don't know if it's changed since then. You'll know you've reached it when you can see the "Custom Avatar" section at the bottom of your Edit Avatar page.
Thanks for this!

I guess I made the count. And yes, I do have permission to use this picture from the artist.
