On chat, all of a sudden, the messages others are typing stop showing.
Sometimes this happens only in 1-2 private chat windows; sometimes in all windows, including the main chat.
The only way I realize this, is when I realize all I see is myself typing, as if I'm chatting with myself.
However others are able to receive and see what I type.

On looking at chat history, I am able to see what others have been saying.

Using Mac OsX. I use Google Chrome, Safari or Opera usually. Have the same issue on all browsers.

I believe others have similar complaints. And it has been reported earlier by others.

i have seen you going in and out of chat rooms, Silent~ i knew you were having troubles, but i never saw you type anything, and finally you gave up (i would have too~!).

i hope this gets figured out. another person told me that he upgraded his JAVA program, and did all the cache clearing on the browser and the puter, and added PC to the security programs list, and one of those things cleared things up.

best wishes
Gus

I had the problem where my messages were showing up but nobody else's. For a minute, I thought I was just talking to myself. lol. I updated and rebooted my browser (Chrome 32) and the problem went away.
Thanks for this!

I have cleared my web cache and the browsing history more number of times than i ever have after i joined chat on PC lol.
that didn't seem to work.

Maybe the browser and/or JAVA program needs to be updated. Will try that.

Thank you for your replies, Gus and misskrome.

Flash, too? Lemme dig around. I'll see if I can find anything. I've got a lot of nerdy friends so I'll make some calls.

Chat doesn't use flash, so updating it won't help you. Chat uses simple HTML and javascript, which every modern web browser comes with supporting automatically. We've tested new chat and confirms it works on all modern browsers.

Unlike old chat, new chat does not require the use of any special ports, Flash, or anything else. (Neither chat needed Java.) Old chat also wouldn't work on satellite connections; new chat does.

Usually problems can be traced to aggressive settings in virus protection or malware detection software, which you can confirm if you can try using a different computer altogether at home to connect to chat (or like your tablet or phone).

None of that information helps. Any other advice? It keeps happening. I made another thread but it can be deleted. I wasn't aware of this one when I made it.

Great. Mine is doing that now, too. We were having a nice discussion in there and it just shut down. When I rebooted it, it showed that no one was there, yet the Chat tab at the top of the main PC page shows the same users still in it. ((

The problems reported by Silent Efforts have happened multiple times to multiple people. It just periodically happens, messages still continue to be visible if switched to the mobile chat version however.

Yeah, it's a weird bug we have not been able to track down yet with the developers. Seems to come and go, which makes it even harder to figure out. Sorry...

Another persistent bug applies to my user account.....

1) while in chat, if member clicks on my profile it links to user name "DianeJ"; and
2) if another member does a search to find me, it replies "user does not exist."

Which moderator or administrator would I report these errors? Thank you!

Well this problem has been so frustrating that it has broken my addiction to the chat room.
