I think that it would be useful to have 'male' or 'female' written near a member's name, like location and other information (if one accepts to publish it). Sometimes it's difficult to guess it from the nickname (at least for me

people are people, we don't all fit in little boxes... i'm glad people have to guess my gender/preferences... the fewer labels we put on people, the better we are likely to treat them~

Thanks for the suggestion!
However, we don't list demographic information as a part of a member's post, and don't think it's relevant in most cases when formulating a reply (just like we don't list age, race, religion, ethnic background, etc.). Best, DocJohn

I think gender is very relevant when in a chat room. I hate when I think I am talking to a female and am excited to have "girl talk" to find out that that person is a male.

Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors. |
