I know there is the option to mark a thread as containing triggers but this is in reference to triggers in posts.

While posters are very good about marking any possible triggers the warning sometimes it's not enough especially for those who tend to skim a post and notice the warning too late or something.

I was thinking maybe a process like on IMDB where the spoiler is blacked out unless you hover your mouse over it or a font colour the same as the usual site background colour so that you have to actually highlight the words to see them. would add a little more protection.

a trigger is a warning that the post may contain material that will trigger oir upset a reader, and any posts with such material are marked with a red X such as i used here for reference, its at the top left of any post, hope this makes it clear

Some people write something like ****TRIGGER**** or other warning notes before they reveal what they consider their spoiler. Since triggers are personal, I don't know that any additional warnings would be very useful since one would have to know the subject/material that was being hidden to know if it was going to trigger one and that would be too late? Triggers really only say what is triggering to the person posting the warning. I don't think there are any "generic" triggers.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
