Chat issue.

People who aren't meant to be moderators such as NuckingFutz, and patches4.0 have moderator rights in the chatrooms.

patches is confused by it, and other people are finding it slightly disconcerting....

Hello

I am very confused by this. I have no idea why it's logging me on showing me as a mod when I am not. I have not and would not use any mod privileges such as kicking or anything else. I hope someone can fix this soon because at least one person is being really ignorant about it and I don't appreciate it at all. I have been nothing but kind to people on this site and don't deserve to be treated like and called an idiot. Nobody in my life speaks poorly of me because I give them no reason to, please don't do it to me on here, it's not why any of us are here.

Members who create their own private room in the chat system have mod privileges for that room only. This is consistent with chat privileges we've provided to room owners in the past, just maybe not with the titles (that this chat system assigns automatically). We hope and expect that no member will abuse such temporary privileges.

OK say member YYY makes a room and becomes temp mod for room. On the default skin their name is showed in dark green.

Then comes a non creator which has the admin bug, and then he gets his name in red and can override the temp mod even though he is no admin and not even a mod.

So it is different from being a mod in your created room.

Hope I explained it well. The admin bug only follows certain chatters who swear they are not site admins.

One followup question -- are these members who have the admin bug, can they admin only in the user-created room? Or are their admin privileges good for any room??

Hi Doc John

I am one of the people who logs in as I always have yet show up as a moderator. I would never use any of the privileges a moderator has and have not done so. None the less some people seem to be very bothered by the fact that I have mod privileges. I personally don't care, but one person actually has been very rude to me and asked me to leave chat because of it on more than one occasion. I don't deserve to be treated like that and would hope it doesn't happen again, but it would be ideal for the bug to be fixed. To answer your question about rooms, I have Mod status know matter what room I am in and don't create rooms on my own. I hope this helps and I hope that the people on this site would be a little more understanding of the situation. If one more person gives me grief over this I will not hesitate to report them for harassing me, I'm getting a little tired of it. Thank you Doc. John.
