The forum has been fantastic and has lead to new friendships and really had built a safe space and community for trans/nb/other gendered people. There hasn't been arguments, just loads of support and shared information from pronouns to safety on hormone therapies. Until today.

I am wondering if it is at all possible to have a tag quite like the men and women forums have, saying "men only" and "women only". Something like "trans, nonbinary, and questioning only".

I want the space to stay safe and I am sure others do as well, and it has been so wonderful. I am just thinking that this may be an important addition so that space stays a safe space.

I also find it difficult to post in Female or Women only Forum... since males are posting questions/comments there. It would be helpful. Just my thought and makes me worry. Thanks

I think respect for safe spaces here is really important. Especially those accessing boards wanting to feel safe and then ending up getting info from someone who doesn't understand the individual struggles.

It would be extremely helpful if you find a man posting in womens' only or vice versa that you report the post so the team can deal with the issue. We can't help if we don't know there is a problem.

I think part of the question here is: where does a non-binary / trans person post, other than in the Transgender Forum? And there is no restriction printed advising cis-gendered persons not to post here as there is for the Women Only & Men Only forums. (Obviously, that doesn't keep everyone who's not supposed to post in a particular forum out. But I presume it helps.)

I am biologically male. But I have been transsexual all of my life. So my "insides", so to speak, are female. I don't post in the Women Only Forum because I'm biologically male. Once in a while I'll post in the Men Only Forum. But, in general, I don't feel comfortable there either.

So I think what is being asked for is the same consideration for the Transgender Forum that is afforded the Women Only & Men Only forums. Am I correct... or am I off on a siding somewhere, so to speak?

This has been answered here:

http://forums.psychcentral.com/commu...uestion-2.html

Note that the TG forum hadn't been created yet. But seems like the answer is either one.

I support the idea of loud anti-TG people being barred from the section.

This forum is based on support, and some sections, that attitude is more important than others. This is a section where some things should not be allowed.

I think personally it should be for those who are indeed TG in one way or another, questioning if they might be, and those who are not but having legit questions and wanting to learn.

I think the attitude there is just man and woman xy and xx, should be totally banned from there. We wouldn't allow those thinking depression is a myth going to the depression section and tell people to just snap out of it, would we?

I don't like the idea of separate forums.

I am parent of transgender.

Where would I post?

Loud, rude posters should be barred from ALL forums, not just sexual/gender.

The whole community of PC is based on support with just a few exceptions.

Just my personal opinion, I think you should be allowed to post and people in similar situations, as long as they stay respectful.

The main thing for me at least is that we don't have random drivebys that question the idea of being TG, making stupid jokes or act like butts.

I was merely letting folks know if there is a problem with men (not trans) or women (not trans) posting in the other's forums we need to be notified of such so we can remove the posts and let the member know why. I'm sorry I wasn't more specific with my post in stating such.

Since DocJohn is the one who would make such a decision as to what the heading would state on any such forum, we'll have to wait for his decision on it.

In the mean time, please let's keep this thread on topic. Thanks!

I've added the request additional sentence to the description of the TG forum. Thanks for the suggestion, folks.
