Like can they still look at my profile and stuff? Or are they blocked from seeing that too. I would prefer if they couldn't access my page either. Or anything at all to do with me.

all i know for sure is: they can't send you any messages, public or private, they can't post in any thread you start, and you can't read anything they post.

when you put someone on ignore that blocks your own ability to see what another person has posted during the time that you are logged in.. you will also not be able to post/reply to any posts of the person you have placed on your ignore list until you remove that person from your ignore list. it also blocks that persons ability to post in any threads that you start. if you are not logged in you will still see that persons posts. you will also not receive /see any private messages that a person on your ignore list may send you. it doesnt prevent them from sending you a message, just prevents you from receiving it.

it does not prevent that person from looking at your profile or seeing what you have posted.

the ignore feature is not a list for punishment against other people by acting against them (preventing them from having full use of the psych central including checking out other members profiles).

the ignore list is a protect yourself from being triggered feature. you add people to the list to protect yourself from being triggered by them and what they post.

the only way a person knows they are on your ignore list is if they try to post a reply on the boards to you in a thread that you have started or if you tell them.

They can look at your profile and post visitor messages for you. I have feelings similar to yours. If I put someone on "ignore" I would prefer they not be able to contact me in any way. If they do post a visitor message on your page you can ask a mod to remove it by "reporting" it.

I understand why ignoring cannot be automatically mutual, it would create quite a mess.

But I would be happy if those I ignored could not PM me and I would be happy if I got an indication I cannot PM them if they have me on ignore, I mean if someone would choose to ignore me, the least I would want to is private message them, it would probably feel creepy for them and I would be clueless.

Also it would be great if one could make the profile invisible for ignored people. I know some people I put on ignore actually commented on my profile (I peeked I admit and realized it's quite scary when you cannot see them and they can still see you), commented in ways I found quite disturbing. My profile is now very generic and I feel the need to make it moreso. I mean, you have to protect yourself, right?

Jimi, if you have someone on ignore they can not PM you. I think the only way to find out someone who has you on ignore is 1) you get a message you can't post in a thread they started or 2) you try to PM them and get a message that you are on ignore.
I agree that it is disturbing to have someone you have on ignore post on your visitor page. It happened to me also. It was very disturbing. If I put someone on ignore I have a reason for doing so. I don't want any contact with them.

That isnt how it is supposed to work. Maybe the spelling of the names is similar and you ignored the wrong one? Like hankster / hamster? Not that you would want to ignore either of us (gee i hope this posts!)

I somehow visit people's pages without even meaning to though... ghosted touchpad I tell ya.... I mean to click on a link and I sort of slip.

I'm probably not the only one doing that. It actually happens even easier if you have someone on iggy, if you happen to hit their name you go to their profile, if you happen to accidentally hit someone's name not on iggy you get a drop down menu and you can cancel what you are doing, unless you hit the name somewhere else than the top left of the post.

Meh, clicky fingers...

I have been PM'd by people I've had on ignore. (But I didn't know it was there until I might have removed them from ignore.)

The ignore list is not a perfect arrangement as it is, I'll agree. I'd love to see it modified to be all-inclusive and more protective. But one does develop a certain amount of toughness after being on a site for awhile. Don't be afraid to employ cognitive, deliberate and rational ways of ignoring people, too.

Always remember, if there is any seriously disturbing stuff happening to you here, do not hesitate to contact a moderator and /or Administration.

Any activity that interferes with your use of the site is of great importance to them, and they DO want it stopped.

And remember, too----You could also be saving many other people from similar distress, when you do that.

I haven't really had anyone harass me with PMs but I do find some people that tend to trigger me. Some not on purpose but others on purpose because they know it does that to me. They know because I stated it does that but they like to throw it in my face anyway.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
