I am wondering what all this trigger talk is... Sometimes I see posts that warn of triggers before I read them. I don't know what triggers are. I can't pinpoint anything that makes me feel worse or better. I thought these moods just came on whenever or for whatever reason.

Major life changing events trigger me. My psychiatrist retiring after I'd been seeing her for seven years triggered my last unfortunate episode.

hi ... triggers can be different things
on here we use trigger icons for reasons like this thread suggests http://forums.psychcentral.com/new-m...ease-read.html
but it could also be something else that triggers a reaction or response for you

A trigger in relation to mental illness is a word, action, smell, sound, taste, feeling, etc that causes your mind or body to revert to a certain thought or memory that has affected you negatively (ie a loud bang or a car backfiring can cause a war veteran to experience a flashback of a warzone.... things like that).

Hope this helped!

It seems that a trigger is whatever the person being triggered thinks it is.
