Is it possible to set up a forum board where people can talk about their complaints and legal problems with their therapists, psychiatrists, and psychologists and their disdain for therapy? I ask, because the Psychotherapy board seems to be a place of ongoing/constant therapist and doctor complaints, therapy bashing, and legal issues like reporting therapists to boards, suing therapists, getting therapists licenses taken away, etc. I understand that there are terrible therapists and doctors out there and that people need to talk about those things, but it would be nice if there was a specific place for people to make and discuss those kinds of complaints.

The threads about bad therapists and legal problems really overshadow other members' threads who are looking for actual therapy support. I do understand the therapist-client relationship is an important aspect of therapy, but legalities and therapy bashing shouldn't consume so much of the Psychotherapy board

Such a place already exists.

I'm not sure how exactly you think you can force people who have been harmed in therapy to not post in the psychotherapy forum though. That seems so wrong to me. And when the board was set up some people were pretty horrible about it being formed. It's like some people don't want us to be anywhere. Like we're not supposed to even exist. Sad. Really sad.

It would be nice if we lived in world where therapists were perfect like some people seem to believe, but we don't and people should be allowed to share that in the open. It's an AWFUL feeling being told you're not wanted there. Really awful. You can ignore me or whoever or ignore those threads you don't like, but please don't tell us to go away.

And if i may continue peridot's point, when we DO respond or ask questions, we are ignored. So it would be more of a rant space, not where someone is looking for answers. I was thinking today to suggest a sub-forum to psychotherapy along the same lines! I dont really want to put people on ignore, but i dont like to be surprised by this hostility all the time either. Namecalling and whatnot. Are you really asking me to support you calling your therapist a charlatan? I think that deserves its own hotline and may be out of the purview of this forum..

Maybe by my saying I don't support a rant forum will cause you to get one?

I don't believe it's healthy to post rants unopposed by possible positive posts... and while I dislike seeing them on a positive mental health site, it is what it is. I wish there were limits on how much negativity can be expressed . It just does no good for the psyche! I would like to see a special group here from the site that do nothing but reframe for those who post such negative posts (not just against their Ts).

Those who believe they have been harmed (yes, real and delusional events) need a place to be comforted and given possible better outlooks. The responses are up to the other members, like always, imo.

We will not create such a forum. There are more than enough places to go online and rant or complain about things you don't like or feel like you were harmed by. We even have a social group forum for such things:

http://forums.psychcentral.com/clients-betrayed-t/

And you're welcomed to create your own social group if you feel that one doesn't meet your needs.

Inevitably, people are going to talk about their therapist in the psychotherapy forum -- you can't separate the two out, since one of the "active" factors in the success of psychotherapy is the therapeutic relationship with your therapist.

While sometimes it may seem like the forum has too much complaining or such about one's therapist, it comes and goes. The forum is a diverse gathering of people sharing their psychotherapy experiences. I wouldn't want it any other way.

It's like banning talking about side effects in the med forum. I wouldn't like that very much.

Thank you, DocJohn, for the clarification about this issue. Also thank you for posting that link to that group.
