I think its absolutely ridiculous that you can't delete your posts or your account. What if you were going through a terrible time and sought out the only solace you felt you could find at the time, and wrote your post on here with detail and perhaps even names??

We all make mistakes and go through horrid times. Some of us want to leave our pasts behind us but this so called "supportive" online community won't let that occur? Lol!

You can have your posts removed one by one by pressing the report button and saying you'd like the post to be removed.
Thanks for this!

I've tried that. I hope it helps. It's such a shame & tbh, a breach of our rights, that you can't permanently delete your (in my case, old) account. I've well moved on from my issues since then and so the fact that it is possible to see the link to the post and thusly my entire account on Google if you search for my ex's name as I haven't been able to delete my account and posts, is irritating to say the least :/

i love the idea of being able to delete your own acount.

maybe it could be at the bottom of the user control pannel
it makes perfict sense

we can post, we can delete posts, why not delete acounts

and breafsih, your idea about reporting posts to get them deleted.. lol not sure that would work, as their would have to be a valid reason (like something against the rules) why it needs to be deleted

I've reported my own posts to have them deleted (only once or twice) and I've seen moderators advise users to do it this way. So I think it's possible.

Sorry, but we do not allow members to delete their own accounts -- or posts -- because of past troubles with this ability. It too easily can be (and has been) abused by not-well-meaning people.

We also simply don't have the technical mechanism to mass delete posts, so it's a manual process one of our volunteer moderators has to go in and do for each request. For that reason, we limit the number of such deletion requests that can be made per account.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
