I've done some thinking and had a change of heart - counseling, therapy, and discussing troubles is weak, pathetic, and is making me an inferior person. Plenty of people go through life carrying personal burdens and telling them to no one, why can't I? No, this is wrong. I shouldn't be here.

I want to be deregistered from the forum.

Noooo don't leave the forums. It's not true at all that it is weak and pathetic about counseling, therapy, etc. Plenty of people have this. Those people who don't have it, either feel that they don't need it (but in some cases they do but they feel they don't) or the thought of having counseling and therapy doesn't occur to them.

You are not weak at all. No one with troubles in their lives or with mental health is weak.

Maybe you shared too much too fast?
No reason to deregister... just take a break (but write down your SN and password for later)...
there 's no fee to be a member here, so keep your membership for now, you might want to bounce a question off us here at some point.

I'm sorry you are wanting to leave Psych Central. You know, you don't have to be going to therapy to be a member here. You are most welcome here and we hope you will change your mind.

You can take a break from PC when you feel you need to do so. Many members do that for lots of different reasons.

If you are absolutely sure you wish to delete your account, please send a pm to our co-administrator Christina86 as she is the one who takes care of account deletions. Just know that if you do this, you are always welcome to return at any time.

Take good care!

That...was a terrible impulse post. I've been mentally revved up for a while now...discussing the mental strength of the sexes on another site really didn't help...it's dying down now, but still.

I came here to say "never mind". Actually, I'm considering making more posts to question what I experience....it occurred to me this little freak-out might have been a response to another underlying issue.

Thanks all.

Ok. Next time you're feeling this, post it as how you are feeling and not as a definite...that might help you get through it without actually quitting us!

I am confused here...threads exactly like this are against the guidelines and appropriate actions were taken via an mod locking this thread and reiterating the rules. Then it was unlocked by a different mod and we are free to reply.

Just curious as to what happened here?

It's not that I don't support them, it's just that I am curious why a thread that was appropriately dealt with by one mod had their actions reversed by a different one.

But why is a thread that was clearly against forum guidelines unlocked? It clearly states under "Inappropriate Content", at the very bottom of the list, and I quote:

"All goodbye posts. Instead, PM your friends privately if you choose to leave the community."

So it clearly is written in stone. I am just really curious as to why appropriate actions were taken but then reversed. If you are going to make and enforce a forum rule, you should do so consistently.

Indeed. It doesn't boast well for a mod to allow a rule to slide because if they let it slide once, then they have to let it slide again and again or risk being called a hypocrite. Then they let it slide all the time and the rule is rendered pointless.

So, I am going to make a request that whenever I feel like posting my good bye thread, it will remain up and unlocked in case I change my mind.

Artchic, try pm'ing these kinds of questions to someone on the Community Support Team as discussing admin actions is also against the guidelines. We'll be happy to talk to you about whatever you have a question on and we don't bite!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
