There's a locked room on chat. What's the password?

As a chat host, I have the option of creating and locking a room if I so choose to. It's not personal, but, I'm sure any mod will tell you it's well within the guidelines.

Password protected rooms can be helpful when discussing a triggering situation with more than one person as cannot be done in pm's but would be disruptive to a group
Thanks for this!

I would agree, but it was filled with everyone but me.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but, I know there were other members who weren't a part of our group discussion/support. It wasn't made in inference to exclude. But, the nature of this chat was private for those involved.

No. I was the only one in the chats for a while that wasn't invited to your little cozy private chat. I had to wait for a while to chat with those that left it.

If you go to the chat host forum, there is s thread entitled "locked rooms in chat" you will read there that I was well within my right to have that room as I did and am sorry you took such a personal insult from it. Now that I've explained politely, I prefer to not justify my perfectly acceptable actions. Thanks.

I have seen private rooms many many times. and for many different reasons.
Some may have topics that not all want to be a part of. Still others fear being judged and discussing things in private helps alleviate that fear. Some are created so you can have private conversations with more than 1 person. I am sure there are more reasons.

I will never forget how difficult it has been having 3 or 4 private conversations going on at once only to realize we were all PMing with the same people. Some people are not comfortable moving to Skype or Tango for a private group talk.

I have asked for the password to private rooms before. Sometimes I am given them (once) and sometimes I am not (thrice). The way I do it is see if I have a "listed friend" in the room. I will then ask If I want to have the password or if I do not want to have the password? I do not belong in every room

To paraphrase Groucho Marx: I would never join a private chat room that would have me as a member.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
