Lots of times after I "preview" I just forget that you have to hit "continue" again to actually post. My preview looks good and I think I'm done so I click on one of the menus at the top without even thinking about it.

If you actually got the "post" screen and the redirect message, it might have just been a software hiccup. This board seems pretty immune to those but you never know. On boards where that happens a lot, I've gotten into the habit of selecting and copying my message before hitting the post button in case something goes screwy. If the board is messed up I can paste it into a text document and save it to try to repost later on.

I can feel your frustration though, because it still does happen to me... I prepare a VERY long post and then forget to copy and then lose it, and you don't even want to go and retype it, it is almost more frustrating trying to remember what you said than creating it in the first place.

Whenever you write out something long for a forum or an email, I've found a handy trick is to open a word processor up, write it in there first, save it, then copy and paste it into the forum or email. I only do this once in awhile when I'm writing something long, but it ensures that no software glitch or anything is going to lose my work.... Just an idea for future reference.

I'm usually too lazy to do that but another advantage with that is your word processor probably has a better spell checker available... more user friendly and also one you can set up to recognize common names such as usernames here.

It can also be easier to compose since you don't have to type into a limited size box.
