Many times I've seen a thread closed by a moderator saying, "this thread is being closed per OP's request." However, our Community Guidelines does not grant the OP this ability.

Can DocJohn, an administrator or moderator please let me know what gives an OP the ability to close a thread that is within our Community Guidelines?

Thanks.
Thanks for this!

Although it's not written in the guidelines, we've always respected members' requests to close threads they started. Various reasons are given, but no reason is needed.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
