I used to be able to ignore on my iPad when I had it but I forgot how. Now I only have my phone to chat on and I need to ignore some people.

If you are using Tapatalk, there is no way to use the ignore feature. You will either have to mentally ignore them, go to another room or leave chat if you find it too hard to mentally ignore another member in chat.
