So I find it triggering when people place me on ignore and I go to try to reply on one of their threads and they say that you can't reply to this person because they have you on ignore.

So instead of letting my anger cause me to do something irrational like I used to have a bad habit of back when I used Facebook when this happened like bashing them, starting new accounts to insult them, or starting rumors about them or whatever, I decided to do the more mature logical thing and add them to ignore as well.

There is a problem though: I can still see when they start a thread and when that happens, I feel agitated all over again.

Is there any way to completely block seeing a thread title or anything from them? Otherwise I may be prone to logging on PC one day when I've had a rough stressful day and react to seeing that person's thread, feel like I've not invited to a special little party, and say something that could end up getting my account suspended.

Thanks!

what about placing them on your ignore list. that way you dont see any of their posts. you may see the thread title and what others have posted in the thread if you happen to click into it but where that persons post is it says this person is on your ignore list. that way you know at the get go not to even try to post in their thread. I have done this before as a reminder to myself for one or two situations. works great for me.

I don't have a solution but I DO understand the issue and I feel for you. Hopefully someone will come along, read your post and have an answer for you. Added the part below so someone doesn't come along and think your question has already been answered.

IMO a better system would be for you to be able to respond to these threads, but the person who has you on ignore just can't see them. That way they don't see whatever is triggering them...and any type of flaming will be removed anyway, right? I don't think it's fair for someone to be unable to post in a thread just because the OP has ignored them, especially if it's a general conversation, like in coffeehouse. Just saying. I know it's probably not possible for the admins to edit this feature.

I totally agree. The whole not being allowed to post in a thread just because of the OP happens to ignore you is a bit extreme. However, it is what it is and nothing is going to change that. I understand.

It would be nice if there was a system whereby as you click on "reply to thread" it tells you IMMEDIATELY that you're on that persons ignore list.

Rather than typing out a long reply and as you hit "post reply" it tells you only then that you're on ignore:/

that feature already exists when you click into a thread that the original poster has you on ignore and click reply to begin your replying you get this notice...

You are on this users ignore list and therefore cannot reply to this thread.

it is an automatic pop up as long as you do not use the "quick reply", if you use "quick reply is does not always show up

my suggestion is not to use the quick reply if sensitive to needing to know whether you are on someones ignore list.

another suggestion before actually writing out a long reply click in reply in the original post (first post ) of the thread. you get the pop up notifying you that you are on that persons ignore list you know not to try and write your post in that thread....

heads up just because someone has a person on ignore does not mean it prevents them from posting their reply.... anyone can start their own thread on the same issue and have their own discussion about it...

example if I am on someones list that is discussing a dissociative therapy model that their treatment providers are using and I feel my post about the same therapy model and how my own treatment providers use or dont use it with me I can if I wish begin my own thread on that same issue and post my situation and how and why my own treatment providers use or dont use that model of therapy with me.

the ignore feature is for the protection of the one that is using it and not used as a preventative / punishment to keep others from having full use of posting their self.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
