It would be so much better if we knew BEFORE we compose responses to those we care about on here that we we are on their ignore list.

Is there a way to implement this?

Thanks for this!

it does notify you before you write a post.

you click reply in the post you want to reply to and .....not.....the quick reply box at the bottom of the thread,

Ahhh. Didn't know that as I do use the quick reply box because it's...there. Do you mean the little black "POST REPLY" on the lower left corner?

Thank you.

ETA: the "post reply" button isn't the answer, apparently, as I just checked.

Yeah, this "ignore" function is really broken in that we can't know if we are put on ignore until after a thoughtfully written post is made and not able to be posted. It's rather like a slap to the face if you know what I mean. I think it's been posted about many times but DocJohn refuses to fix it. I don't know why not.

no look at the bottom of the post where you see the thanks and hugs buttons. right there is a reply button. (on the bottom right of each post, right below signatures

when you click on that reply button it will automatically tell you.... "You are on this users ignore list and therefore cannot reply to this thread."

hmmm. I see. my buttons are different than your screenshot. mine has...

reply button/ multiquote this message button/ a quick reply button/ thanks button /hugs button. (I dont know how to make a screen shot sorry)

most times I use the reply, this way it automatically tells me when I am on a persons ignore list and also when not on ignore list it automatically quotes the post I am replying to. sometimes I do use the large quick reply box at the bottom of the whole thread, when I do this is does not tell me if I am on a persons ignore list.

since your buttons are different maybe someone else with the same format that you are using can help you. otherwise my other suggestion is experiment with what you do have and maybe you will hit on the right way that will allow you to know when you are on someones ignore list.

sorry I couldnt be of more help on this.

Thanks for the replies.

Perhaps I'll get an answer that I can use....? Isn't this what "Technical Support" means?

If this is an unknown issue or if I should be looking in another area for the answer....perhaps a moderator could let me know????

Well it doesn't say "Technical Support in 30 minutes or Less"!! I'm sure someone with an answer will be with you as soon as possible. Please be patient and remember this is a volunteer run site.

I think it would be pretty neat though, (actually in the ignore list), to see who is ignoring you, before you even attempt to reply.

I mean think about it

if you knew in advance such and such was ignoring you, you then wouldn't waste your time going to reply, only to find out you can't do that

my buttons are the same as yours

which make me wonder if the original poster is either using a diffrent brouzer, or just has the layout of the forum set up diffrently (though i'm not sure if you can do that?)

ok I figured out sophiemom's answer....

different "skins" have different buttons. regardless of what a persons buttons look like (tried it in all skins lol) the first button under the signatures of the posts you want to reply to is the one that will tell you if you are on someones ignore list before you waste time writing posts....

Sophies mom.... if you look at your buttons in the screenshot you posted your first button labeled quote is the same as my reply button. use your Quote button instead of the quick reply box.

it is always the first button at the bottom of the post you are reading regardless of what style (skin you have your display settings set at)

Understood and would not have a problem with it IF questions were answered in some kind of order....Or say <you'll> look into it, or that <you> don't know.
Volunteer or not, that's just common decency.

(hug emoji back at you)

Sorry Amanda, that doesn't work, either. Neither my "quote" button or my "post reply" button tells me I'm on ignore before writing a reply.

I appreciate you trying to help me, though.

It looks as if I have to assume it's my problem (Chromebook)

my only other suggestion is pm doc john or a moderator. maybe they can help you figure out whats going on and why your buttons are not working for you.

but in the mean time heres another something I just thought of... sometimes people on tap talk and different browsers and different countries have problems where some of the things on websites dont work the same way or at all. example when I am using my cellphone (mobile version not in full version I sometimes dont get to use the same options and features that I can on my home and work computers. my cell phone just doesnt support as much memory and other drivers and such needed to get the job done.)

my point not knowing when you are on someones ignore list before trying to post a long reply may just be one of those things you will have to handle. nothings perfect and everyone has those things that they just cant do like other people can. frustrating yes but its not something thats going to end the world.

Are you on Tapatalk? What browser? Have you searched this forum for a similar problem?

*Ouch* .... seems a bit harsh (Volunteer or not, that's just common decency)

... I frequently see mods respond with "we'll look into it" type response.

I understand what you mean by "in some kind of order", sure, but this is not a supermarket check out system where one is served at a time or you're waiting at the deli with your ticket number

I think most of what happens around here with admins/mods is behind the scene - the half of which we know nothing about. I think it's a bit more complex than simply looking for replies on threads and waiting to be "served" next

To me, it wasn't harsh. Every volunteer position I have had has been just as important, and treated the same, as a job to me, even when I was doing both.

I'm going through a tough time, just like everyone else is and felt particularly ignored here...(ironically).

No, this is not the supermarket. It's Community Feedback and Technical support.....So...I guess I don't understand the comparison to that either.

And hugs back to you too, CrazyHitch and thank you for your comment.

Yes I have, but only saw other problems with the ignore feature that didn't apply.

Thank you.
