I know this isn't about PC, but I need some tech help. My brain is on overdrive with stress and I can't think.

I need to know if someone has used my computer for places other than I would go. (I've had contractors in the house.)

The obvious previous address history is always clear ALWAYS but it does leave space a HUGE space which shows all the spaces for sites that had been cleared.

WHERE ELSE can I check for history of sites visited?

I've been having trouble with my computer for weeks now. When I run Lava Soft, it finds 50-60 problems. I hadn't been able to figure that out because I only go to a few sites and that's 2-3 MAYBE from some of them. There are other reasons I know they've been in my room, but that doesn't matter now.

Somebody?

Sky,

Hold down Ctrl and H on Firefox to bring up history. It may just show today, only, but let me check about IE as well...

IE is Ctrl + Shift + H...

Hope that helps...

Thanks... trying that now..

I was able to remember to print off the log of Lava soft, so I know basically what went on... a few things for changing the Firewall, virus scan and such through McAfee... and something for downloading mp3 files..

Nope that doesn't do anything with IE.

At the tippy-top of the screen click on View and then Explorer Bar and you should see History. Click on that.

Right below that it says Go To, that should show you as well.

If that doesn't work let me put my thinking cap on, I'm sure there are more ways.

try your prefetch folder...I'm assuming you're using winxp...go to run and enter prefetch in the field and press ok...this will tell what was recently run on your puter...hmmm...you can try a free program called regseeker ...open the program and go to histories...it will list all the sites visited...unfortunately if your history has been deleted it maybe gone...maybe try an undelete program and see what happens...there is a way to prevent users from deleting history on your machine... preventing complete history deletion ...

Well.

No.

Tell me: site history?

The best so far is that when I looked at history from the address bar, it showed about an 8 line blank space, not data. I know if I only go to say 2 places, and delete history, then check that it has space for 2 lines...so I know someone was in a lot of places. Tell me: site history?

The fetch worked nicely, good thing to know, however it didn't show anything before I was on this afternoon, when I got home. Tell me: site history?

I went to the microsoft adware site...looks good but I couldn't find exactly what would show me history maybe, and I'm not up to trying to figure it out. I bookmarked it for later though Tell me: site history?

Ok... how about this...

is there some easy way to find anything new that might be ON my computer, downloaded and not erased?
What do the cops do when they find supposedly erased programs and data on a computer? That's what I want! I'm so afraid this guy went to porn, and that there's some on my computer. I want to find out before I finish paying the guy. Tell me: site history?

He's already buying me a new filing cabinet. Looks like he stood on it to paint something on the ceiling Tell me: site history?

After I caught him with my coat, and left, he finished in an hour's time...but the stuff he did was slipshod and I had to undo it all. Can't wait till he gives me the bill.

I can't find anything particular missing, but my home is dishelved with boxes and nothing where it belongs right now.

Beginning to think that no place is safe from others. Everyone will be a victim, and often? Tell me: site history? Not very comforting, sorry. Tell me: site history? I'm wondering about where to go to find new locks for doors. Tell me: site history? Home Depot and Lowes always carry the same set numbers (same keys) and this guy goes to them (maybe even with the $500 gift card someone used my credit card to buy.)

I doubt any place like Target or Kmart would have anything worthwhile. Maybe Ace? I don't know that there are any of them around here now.

Ok, I digress..this is about my computer, not the other issues.

Sorry to hear its not all the way better...

Yeah, Microsoft may be a good site to look for something like a history tracker thingie...

You could search for files, Sky--go to start, search and it will ask if you want to look for pictures or files...if he saved them on the computer, it would show that...dont think it would on the net, though...

You caught him with your coat????? Whats up with that?

I hope you DONT find anything missing, but he does sound a bit different...

I dont think we are ever safe anywhere, sadly. I think it is just the notion we all perceive, like that since we are not being hurt at that moment, that we are safe or secure, when we may not be entirely...

If you think you need to change your locks, and have a good feeling that you need too, then I definitely would. I dunno, I think even Wal-Mart has good locks, probably not superior locks and knobs, but you never know.

Hope things get better.

OH! I noticed my legal file moved...and I had just been into it the other day, moved my social security info to my safe... so I opened the case...and all the personal data information was stuffed in the back Tell me: site history? That included my sons' social security info (I had forgotten about) and my birth certificate and some financial accounting etc.

I'm thinking, he went straight to the computer and while that was doing, he took the coat from the closet, and then rummaged through the files... and then messed around with the computer and when he heard my car,,,he had already dumped the history on the computer), stuffed the papers into the back of the file case and slammed it closed and grabbed the coat and ran to the door where I found him. (How's that for sleuthing?)

I have sent emails to both sons informing them of SSN theft, so they can put alerts on their credit at least. Tell me: site history?

NOW... back to the computer stuff...

As I look over the log for the lavasoft ad aware program... of what it quarantined... I see one entry at 9 am, which is right after I left. He must have been sitting and waiting for me to leave.

After that, the items say 6:18 pm and such for today. So he altered the time...because I pulled the log at 3 pm. Can anyone tell me what it might look like, that file where he changed the time/date on the files? Or..??? IDK Tell me: site history? I don't know if that data would be in the log, as it isn't a harmful files, you know?

There's something with HP photosmart, and a lexmark file. IP monitor, itunes, McAfee security data platform, and also Hacker watch service. One for Southwest airlines...grrr he better not have messed with my airline account too!

So many more places to contact now... and how do I ever make and remember new passwords??? I'm mostly concerned about my home alarm password. I've used the same one so in stressful times (isn't it always) I can say it by rote. Now to change it... maybe just add something to it, with a note on the file NO MALES ? Tell me: site history?

Tell me this is a grey area?

Boy, I hope he has not done anything illegal against you or anything...that would be horrible.

That is pretty good sleuthing...

And it is a good idea (as you did) to send emails to both sons to let them know of the situation...

I have no idea what it would look like, but hopefully some one else would...

I think you will be fine...anyone would be a bit suspicious of this when something like this happens, and hopefully if something did, he didnt hurt you or mess your information up...
