I follow the guidelines and do what is said to do when I come across a member who triggers me. I put them on ignore as a form of self care. That's what this site says to do. Then I'm told I'm being punished for that by not being allowed to make a simple thread asking about what Ilvermorny house other members would most likely be sorted into? What kind of guideline is that to exclude me from making a simple thread like that? I feel so upset by this.

Abiding by the guidelines isn't "punishment," it's how our community interacts with one another to keep the peace and allow people from all walks of life come together. People who are actively using the Ignore functionality here, as discussed previously, should not start community threads, as per the guidelines:

Quote:
Members who have other members on their Ignore list should not start community/group/game/party/holiday threads, because it would limit who could post to such a thread; such members should ask a community support team member to start the thread instead.
Such threads are exclusionary, and we wish to avoid excluding members from community threads based solely on one member's Ignore list.

It should be little to no hardship to ask a moderator or other community support team member to start such threads.

I understand the revised guidelines, but there are numerous surveys in General Social Chat started by people who have others on ignore.

Can there be some clarification as to what is a community thread exactly? What are the criteria that make a question a community thread?

I'm not trying to be a smart *** here. I really could use some clarification.

Thanks

Yes. This. I reported one and was told to stop doing so because it was made before the guidelines were in place.

That makes no sense. My thread was made before the guidelines were in place (by over a year) and it was taken over by an admin/moderator to repost. It either applies to everyone or no one. If the thread is still active, it should be reposted by a moderator as stated in the guidelines.

Yeah. I'm sorry this happened to you. They need to make the rules more clear and defined, and not pick and choose which threads are to be remade by a moderator.

So? Is there something being done about this gross inconsistancy?

Going forward it is now in the Community Guidelines that
Quote:
Members who have other members on their Ignore list should not start community/group/game/party/holiday threads, because it would limit who could post to such a thread; such members should ask a community support team member to start the thread instead.
A community thread is one where you aren't asking for support. They are generalized threads. For example; Do you have a pet?, What are you doing for the holiday? They are also threads like The Couch thread in Psychotherapy and Roll Call threads.
If you would like a thread like this started you can PM a member of the Moderating team and we will start the thread for you.

There are no inconsistencies because we are starting this now.

As this topic has been discussed and answered I am going to close this thread.
Thanks for this!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
