Apparently adding to the ignore list is not enough.
I don’t want a single post of theirs posted

How do I do that?

You can't. You can only take care of yourself by using ignore. You can't prevent someone else from posting completely.

There was once a thread where I attempted to post a second time and got immediately blocked because I’ve been added to the original poster’s ignore list.
How is that, then?

You can’t prevent people from posting anywhere on the forum so that you don’t have to see them. But if you are on their ignore list you can’t post to a thread that they started. I know this because I’ve been blocked from posting from being on someone’s ignore list I think it’s a right of passage here at psych central. If you haven’t pissed someone off yet you’re not posting enough.

If they are using Tapatalk then they can post on your thread. However, even in the forums, their response will be hidden unless you click on it, so just don't click on it and it will be like they never responded.

I have this same problem. I just don't open their comments.

As far as I know you can only hide their posts, their posts show up for everyone else though.

I could be talking complete nonsense here though.

Ignore blocking someone from posting on your thread doesn't work if someone is using Tapatalk.

Then is it possible to include Tapatalk or whatever other form of application which reaches through the website?
I think it is not right to have an ignore feature which is also meant to block from posting on threads when the person is oblivious to some of the feature’s effects due to what I see as mild mis-implementations

no offense but I think doc john posted in yesterdays thread on this same issue that the site has no control over tap talk and that the ignore feature is not perfect. to use self care.

my own understanding of the ignore feature is that its not supposed to be a punishment thing to prevent others from having full access to the site. it is a feature to use for your own triggering ie if a post is triggering you or a poster is triggering you to put them on your ignore.

this will prevent ..............you........... from seeing their posts. unless you choose to view the post.

it will prevent those not using tap talk from posting in your post but that does not prevent them from partaking in the discussion because they can if they choose begin their own thread on the same topic/ issues related to them.

example if I place you on my ignore and I have a thread about zebra's and you have something about zebra's in your life you want to add or talk about you start your own thread on zebra's and how that affects your life.

see what I mean its not supposed to limit other people from full use of the site. its to help ............you...........to take care of your own triggers.................without............affecting others.

that said you can choose to ask another person to place you on their ignore list as a reminder not to post to you.

please keep in mind that when you ask another to place you on their ignore list not only will they not see your posts but you will not be able to post to them. you will have to make your own threads....

That was... not offensive
Anyway, no one was talkig about “punishment” here, but what I am talking about is the feature hole uncovered because of Tapatalk
I don’t know how or why it’s that way but if a forum feature exists then it has to cover up all the other “holes” so to speak

If you want someone to leave you alone/stop posting on your threads for whatever the reasons are/were that you've placed them on ignore, either make a reply on that thread or ask the mods to relay that message.

I totally get your frustration. Tapatalk access has its drawbacks despite its positive qualities.

I hate to sound like a jerk, but I've never had anyone on ignore. That's not to say that I've never "snapped" at anyone on the threads (because I've dropped some real bombs & I've have had this pointed out to me by mods), but I try to keep things in perspective now. If I know it's a simpliistic approach, but I just rely on an "internal ignore" function now. Good luck accomplishing whatever makes you feel comfortable. Peace.

So the built-in Ignore feature of this forum software is fully supported by Taptalk, which means a person on another person's Ignore list won't see that person's replies to their thread.

We added a plugin to the desktop version of our community that also stops members who are on someone's ignore list from replying to their threads. This takes the standard Ignore list to another level, and seemed like a sensible approach. However, Tapatalk doesn't know about plugins, and doesn't support them (since there are literally thousands of plugins to forums). The mobile functionality that Taptalk provides is more important than the functionality of the "enhanced ignore" plugin.

So that is why this additional functionality of Ignore is not fully supported and never will be. If you don't like it, I apologize, but there's nothing we can do about it... Short of disabling the enhanced ignore functionality altogether and going back to the standard Ignore functionality (which allows anyone to post to anyone else's thread).

DocJohn

I kind of wish that was possible too, but it isn't. Too bad. At least there's the ignore feature, which isn't that good, I'll admit.

If someone is ignoring you does their profile come up as anonymous? I’ve seen profiles like that.
