What is required to get an avatar? I have asked a mod but never received an answer.

Go to your page and click my profile. There is an option there.

If you go to your Profile Page & look down the list on the left-hand side of the page... (at the top it says: "Your Control Panel"... scroll down to: "Settings & Options"... the very next thing you'll see on the list is: "Edit Avatar". Click on that & it will take you to a page where you can either browse for your own avatar or select one of PsychCentral's offerings.

I have done that many times but it says 'Do not use an avatar.' Puzzling.
