how does a person get to post as a Guest ?? or Anonymous, for that matter ??

I thought anon was what people who have left & wanted their name remobed but not their posts.
Not sure about "guest" though

Going by this thread, the anonymous user-ID's may be what's left in the posting history, when a user requests that that their account be removed. The guests may be something similar, but with some forum configs, may relate to accounts that existed prior to some point in time, or a period when posting may have been possible without having a full login account.
It might also be possible that a new user could choose a username including the words guest/anonymous (though, I'd suspect that those are likely reserved words that the software would not normally let you use). |

anonymous with a load of numbers on the end is people who have had their accounts deleted, their existing posts show up as "anonymous1234567890 or what ever, does this help?
Not sure about guest though. |

healingme4me, you are absolutely right. Guests cannot post on the forums, they can only read.
The "Guest & Anonymous#####" denote that someone had an account at one time and it has been deleted. Their posts and threads will not be deleted and still show up on the forums. No one who is listed as a Guest or Anonymous is currently posting on the forums.  I hope that answers your questions Gus1234u! |

 So is there an actually difference between who is listed as "guest" or "anonymous" or is it just whatever term was being used at the time they left?
