The last several days I have had trouble logging off of PC -- clicking on the Log Out button seems to freeze the system. This happens with other attempts to do things too, such as change forums. The last time quitting my (Safari) browser was successful in logging me out.

I'm sorry I don't have the answer for this. But I noticed no one had yet replied to your post. So I thought I would. Hopefully you've already solved the problem you've been having. It seems as though whenever members have problems with the site the recommendation is generally to clear one's cache. I use an old laptop computer & I had some problems recently accessing some of the articles in the archives & that was the recommendation I received. So I did it. I followed the instructions that were given in a YouTube video on the subject. Hope you're able to solve the problems you've been having soon.

I have not tried any other browsers. If the problem persists with this one, I will try others.

It has started happening to me when using safari for about the last month.

The problem of not being able to log off, using Safari, continues. I don't have much data yet, but I have not noticed the problem when I use Firefox.

Then it probably has something to do with Safari... I don't know what it might be, though

Pachyderm, if you try clearing any cookies stored in Safari for psychcentral.com, this problem should then be fixed. Let me know if that helps...

Did not help. Even clearing the entire History for one day (for all sites, not just this one) did not help. I am using Firefox to leave this note. __________________ Now if thou would'st When all have given him o'er From death to life Thou might'st him yet recover -- Michael Drayton 1562 - 1631 |

I have been using Firefox (for the Mac) now to access Psych Central. I notice something -- not sure whether it is PC or Firefox that does it -- when I use the quote icon, the cursor gets inserted after the last "/quote", rather than in between "quote" and "/quote" -- which makes no sense. I have to manually remove the quoted text from where Firefox puts it and insert it into the correct place.

Another peculiarity I notice with Firefox is that when I enter a <Return> at the end of a paragraph, Firefox enters two. I seem to notice that in others' posts too. Here is an example of what I mean:
https://forums.psychcentral.com/6391973-post13.html I see this when reading with Firefox and also with Safari. I find that rather surprising. (Notice the paragraph spacing in this [my] post? ) __________________ Now if thou would'st When all have given him o'er From death to life Thou might'st him yet recover -- Michael Drayton 1562 - 1631 |

In addition, Firefox treats the Quote feature quite differently than Safari does, using a quote from outside of Psych Central. I am surprised.

Hmm, interesting issue.
I don't use Mac but I use Firefox so maybe I can think of something. Do you have any addons installed on Firefox? If so, which ones? Also, which version of Firefox are you using? Is it up to date? Last edited by Anonymous52222; Jan 07, 2019 at 02:05 PM.. |

Maybe try cleaning your browser cache and cookies?
You can do both under settings. If that doesn't work, than the only other thing I can think of would be to either reinstall Firefox or switch to a different browser. |

It seems like the issue may be either with your computer itself or with your internet connection. Even though I don't use apple products all that much, I have enough knowledge to confirm that the issue isn't with Psych Central. If it was than users across all operating systems and not just apple users. I am on Psych Central under a Firefox browser with several addons using Windows 10, yet this site is as responsive as it's ever been for me. I would say see if the issue is with your internet connection first. First, try visiting other websites to confirm if this problem occurs anywhere else. Afterwards, try running a speed test. Just search internet speed test to find out the speed and latency of your internet connection. If you have high latency or slow speeds that might be part of the problem. If your internet isn't the problem, the only other thing that could possibly be wrong is something with your computer itself. |

No, this is the only place I have such problems. And that only after upgrading my operating system to "Mojave". I surmise that, in the case of Firefox, it is interpreting some of the Psych Central code incorrectly -- certainly the part about the quoting. Or maybe the code itself is dicey.

Try rolling back the operating system updates. I know there is an option in Windows there should be one in MacOS somewhere. Alternatively, try Googling the issue and see if somebody else was having the same problem and found a fix for it. Last edited by Anonymous52222; Jan 08, 2019 at 03:28 PM.. |
