Why do some people have blue names and others have black ones? I noticed that recently.

If you're looking at the who's online list, it's because of the two tone skin color. At other times, again depending upon which skin you have chosen (so it might not be the blue/black combo) those threads you have read vs ones you have not, I think, is a deciding factor.

No, I don't think those are common denominators anymore. Neither is the level of membership, for I saw two magnate's one after another in a thread I was just reading and one was blue and one was black. Guess this is something for DocJohn to tell, as he's been "playing" with his site here lately.

Yep I saw that, but it isn't alternating in the threads, like it might in the online list. For some of us, it's in a different color, as we view it with different background(skin)..so the mystery continues

It's even worse/more confusing than that; I've noticed my own name has changed color day-to-day :-)

Mmmm..... Well I thought the names in black were for the newer members but there are some older members still in black so that doesn't seem to fit afterall.

The members in blue are older members but if you click on the blue name in the who's online that member then turns to a dark green. I guess, to show that you have clicked on that member's name.

It's all very interesting.

If you've clicked on the member's name for any reason to view their profile or something (in threads, who's online, or PM list), it will change the color of the name. For instance, I clicked on sky's name to view profile from one of her posts here. When I returned, it had changed to a dark green/black color.

It just shows you were you've already been much like when doing a search, then clicking back to the search menu...the sites you've already clicked on are discolored from the rest.

If you clear your cookies, or close browser (depending on settings) they should all go back to blue.

It's just showing you where you've already been at some point in the recent future. Well, that's the way it is for me and some others I've talked to. This was asked once before and that was the issue then as well.

If it's bothersome to you, try clearing your cookies to see if it resolves it.

i see all newbies like that and i havent clicked obn there names muffys and kebs and jinnys have been black since they rejoined i also empty my cookies on sight and on computer a lot

Yeah, I take back what I said in this case because I cleared my cookies and closed my browser and sky's name is still discolored to me.

I do know that clicking on the user's name will discolor it, but I'm not sure about the other just yet...going to look because I'm curious now.

Aha! A clue? What skin are you using? It could be too that some skins do something and other, newer skins didn't get changed in some small way that only shows up in odd places like this. Maybe I'll experiment, moohahahah :-)

I guess we'll see what DocJohn says because I'm not seeing what y'all are seeing. ALL posters are in blue to me, except when I click on name to view profile, then they're a dark green.

And we haven't even had any guys look at it yet who could be colored blind and confuse heck out of everything :-)

I have trouble seeing any "green" there's a hint that some are green but it's so dark as to look black or like my eyes are playing tricks with me. Might help, Perna, if you'd look and see what skin you were using and compare that with the default skin, at least.

I am using the standard Psych Central skin and I see some names in blue and others in black. I have not looked at the details of those in black. I see the thread starter's name as black but Sky's is blue but apparently Kimmy is seeing Sky's name in black? The fairly new user DragonPhoto when he joined had his name in black but then it changed to blue, and I too thought maybe it was for new members, but other people's names have turned to black and they have been long-term members. So I still don't know what causes it I thought somebody in this thread would have the answer!

Maybe it has something to do with how many posts one posts in a given period? Heavy posters for a day are one color and members with fewer posts are another?

I don't know. The original poster of this thread, Pyramid something, his/her name was black when I replied to this earlier, and now it's blue again. I have no idea what it means

Yes but muffy, kebsfroggy and jinnyann are still in black when maybe they need to be blue. I don't know!

Well, then that's not it.

It isn't every other one on the who's online listing either, as if it were the background that determined which color to contrast.

Almost I wish for lots of time to try and figure this out. First good mystery here in a long time
